We stayed two nights over the May holiday weekend in one of the lodges. The lodge was very spacious: large comfy bed, a sofa and two easy chairs. The bathroom was also large with a walk-in shower and a spa bath. There were so many little extras provided- home made biscuits, fresh fruit, bottled water and fresh milk in the fridge. The toiletries were lovely and in plentiful supply. Robes and slippers were also provided. There were three mirrors, one with a light and even an umbrella! We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was really good. Breakfast was the best though, freshly cooked to order and very good quality produce. Good selection of real ales and gins on offer in the cosy bar. The hotel is well placed for Hadrian’s wall but there are also lovely walks around Wark itself. For what we paid, we got a lot for our money. Really good value. We’ve paid a lot more for a lot less in other hotels in Northumberland. We were very impressed with Battlesteads and would highly recommend it.
