Brilliant evening with four friends at the Bears Paw. Menu extensive. Quality really good and not too expensive. Best of all was the service. Sophie was superb. Personable and interested she placed the orders before us because she remembered who had ordered what. That is so rare these days as to be almost unheard of. Sophie is a credit to the pub. We heartily recommend this place and will return soon.

Went for Sunday lunch today and it was lovely. The beef was cooked perfectly and came with lots of veg and a large Yorkshire. I'd asked for a restaurant table but it was very busy so we were offered an alternative. When I mentioned I'd specifically asked on booking the lovely young lady said "it'll take a few moments but theres on about to come free, can I get you some drinks whilst we see to it? . Nothing was too much trouble and after a few mins of being seated in the restaurant our drinks arrived. All staff were busy yet very attentive making sure all tables were cleared off when guests had left. Service and food brilliant, thankyou.

This is a really lovely hotel pub. Very comfortable reasonably priced rooms. Spotless bathrooms. Delicious breakfasts. Great food. Extremely carefully and well organised wedding reception. We had a special weekend. Thank you to all the staff.

WE USED THE BEARS PAW AS A STOPOVER ON THE WAY TO A USUAL HOLIDAY SPOT CLOSE BY AND HAVE TO SAY WE WERE DELIGHTED. WE WILL DEFINITELY USE AGAIN AND POSSIBLY TRY ONE OF THEIR OTHER VENUES. GOOD FOOD AND DRINK, GOOD ROOMS AND NICE STAFF.

If you're looking for great pub food, go to The Queen's Head down the road. The sharing plates are, quite honestly, the worst sharing plates I've ever had. The food was cold, ill-prepared and bland. The lime and mango tacos mimicked road kill layered with excessive chillis to forgo the taste. The cold, limp chicken was still clucking when served but at least the BBQ sauce from the bottle was palletable. Finally, the chicken sliders: after the rock hard bun, I'll be visiting the dentist on Monday. My husband did enjoy his pint, though!

Once my favourite place to celebrate with family....not so tonight 1 hour 10 min wait for starters nearly 2 for mains had to get up look for waitress children very cranky waiting so long free round of drinks barely compensated for cold food and 240 pound bill won't be in hurry to return
