We are from the UK and have travelled extensively. This year we had the misfortune to stay in the Cambria Hotel for a two week vacation from 8th April till 22nd. Sounds harsh but this is one of the most unwelcoming hotels we've ever stayed in. When we arrived we found that the pool was no longer in service and no explanation given and also the Cable TV was not working hotel wide. This continued for two days with just a solitary note of apology pushed under the door. The room service was very inadequate to say the least, rooms / maid service coffee and tea replenishment, towels all changed only once every two days. We did complain and they agreed to service the room daily, after which they still managed to miss the room again on a number of occasions, after which we decided to buy our own coffee and tea to stock our room. We only had only one meal in the hotel which was expensive, poorly prepared and not at all value for money it also took twenty-five minutes to arrive and was almost cold when it did arrive. The bill was not itemised and on inspection by the manager was found to be incorrect. A complimentary breakfast was offered in way of compensation. As a surprise from the UK my Daughter telephoned the hotel manager a few days before from the UK and ordered a bottle of champagne to be delivered to our room on my birthday, as a birthday gift. The order was placed and paid for by credit card at £45 but the champagne did not arrive. My wife who was in on the surprise made enquiries to the manager who said he'd forgot, made his apologies and agreed to refund the credit card. Overall the hotel was clean and tidy but front desk staff, management, and service need a serious and complete overall in order to survive in this very competitive market place.
