Pros: The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is close to restaurants, the Metro, grocery stores.
Con’s: The rooms needs a facelift. The Queen bed mattress felt worn out and was not comfortable at all. The pullout couch mattress was more comfortable than the Queen bed. The hotel only has heat during the winter, when we arrived the room felt like a sauna. With no way to cool off the room the we were told to slide the windows open. A problem is the window only slides open a few inches.

The location was perfect - close to a Metro stop, a Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods. Loved having a full kitchen - it allowed us to have breakfast in the room, as well as wine from the fridge in the evening. The staff were very friendly, the in-house restaurant was very good, the beds were comfortable.

We were there for the GWU graduation. In this day and age when customer service is harder and harder to find, the River Inn was a refreshing experience in how to treat Hotel guests. The staff provided a personalized in-room greeting for our graduate, a champagne toast on one night, cupcakes the next, and flowers for the graduate on the Sunday graduation event. We had several special requests while we were there and the staff, without hesitation fulfilled each and every one of them. The restaurant connected with the hotel was very good. Service was a little bit slow, so allow some extra time. The eggs benedict were worth the wait. If you are in town for anything connected with GWU this is your absolute best option.

I thought there were really clean rooms with great views too. There is a very useful kitchenette in each room which made a big difference. There was lots of storage space and the rooms were cleaned impeccably each day. All the staff were incredibly kind and helpful - special mention to Najwah who was always friendly and smiling at front desk, and to Saif for being helpful and friendly, as well as Ronald and Brian. The high level of customer service really made a difference to our stay.

Brandy and the whole entire staff was great. The room was clean and cozy. The location was perfect. This was truly a great Washington DC experience. My wife and I loved it. We were able to get a good nights rest at the hotel in a beautiful area after a long day sight seeing.
