PROS:
Stood here for the weekend with my partner. Aesthetically, the hotel is super artsy, fun, and pleasing to the eye. The decor and appearance screams chic, quirky, and metropolitan. From the lobby, adorned with all manners of interesting books, odd trinkets, and colorful sculptures, to the cute, cozy outdoor sitting space filled with pretty greenery, I could not stop raving about this hotel the entire trip.
The style of the rooms could very much be described as a European “take” on the well-known Japanese “Pod” style hotels. The rooms were concise (not cramped) and had a sleek, modern, and minimalistic style of furniture (desk with chair, bench, vanity w/sink, bed-frame with built in storage space).
Think “IKEA meets stylish, retro Japanese pod hotel”. If that makes sense. LOL.
Plus everything in the room is controlled using an iPad which I think it pretty flipping cool. SMART TV in the room, as well, meaning unlimited access to YouTube, Netflix, or pretty much anything that can stream from your phone/device which is perfect after a long day exploring the city.
(You can also change the color of the mood lighting in the room via the IPad which provided my boyfriend and I with hours of entertainment pretending we were post apocalyptic humans trapped in some green-tinted “Twilight Zone” style alien bunker)
Also, if you prefer a hard mattress, you will find the hotel bed very comfortable.
During our time here, we had easy access to a LOT of good food. There’s 2 restaurants inside the hotel as well as a really great Middle Eastern restaurant directly across the street. (I approve of their falafel and roasted sweet potatoes. Very good). There are so many cultural and ethnic restaurants in the immediate area for those who are adventurous eaters. There’s even a pretty nice Trader Joe’s around 4 blocks away for stocking the hotel room with healthy snacks and beverages (a must).
Plus Union Market is pretty close to the hotel. I wouldn’t miss it if I were you. Big hall with lots of food vendors and even a little shopping. Even if you aren’t looking to eat and just want to kill a little time, it’s still interesting to walk around and see the cool and unique foods they sell. Soak up the little local color.
Overall, it was a totally unique and memorable hotel experience that was totally worth the cost.
Well done.

We chose the Hilton because of its location at DuPont Circle and proximity to the metro. It was perfect. Very clean and excellent service. We had a corner room with large windows and a nice view. We weren’t able to check in early and still have our chosen room but we left our luggage with the bell captain, parked and went off to explore on foot for awhile, taking the advice from a helpful front desk clerk for a nice place for lunch close by. Everything was close by. It worked out perfectly. The price of the hotel was excellent too which offset the cost of parking ($56/day) in the garage below where the car stayed for the whole trip. It was very easy to park and get back inside. The restaurants looked lovely but we didn’t eat there. There were just too many local choices and we were out walking most of the day. The bell captain was helpful in getting us a cab one cold evening when my Uber app was be working well. He went outside in the cold until he was able to hail one for us (comparable in price to the Uber we would’ve taken) Lovely stay. Highly recommend.

We were welcomed by a friendly Front Desk Receptionist. There is no valet as described but it’s self park for $30 a day. No mobile key available at this hotel. No key drop box availble for those who checked out in the app. The hallway was as hot as being outside. Our room was clean buy AC was not consistent in keeping the room cool. Phone in the room was defective. Front Desk could barely hear you. We had to request additional bathroom stuff using the app. I requested for facial tissue since the one left there had a single tissue in it but we never got it. Complimentary breakfast is freshly made and the dining staff was accommodating. Check out was easy thru the app. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. Affordable hotel if you’re in DC and don’t want to be at the Capitol area.

We usually stay at the one in Rosslyn, one Metro stop away. However, this time we wanted a two-bedroom suite and Rosslyn did not have availability. First, the rooms. This includes two bathrooms, so it could easily be shared by two couples. The living room is compact and includes a TV, as does each bedroom. The kitchen has everything except a toaster or an oven, so a toaster-oven would be great, but hazardous, I imagine. The dining room table is comfortable for 4-5 people. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom has a tub. The room was quiet. We have yet to try more of the common areas, such as pool, laundry and gym. Breakfast is standard with plenty of seating. The front desk staff is very helpful, with directions to the nearby pharmacy and food store. The area is very safe. We did not bring a car so cannot comment on the garage.
Georgetown | 6.28km from National Native American Veterans Memorial
Kimpton Glover Park Hotel has it all figured out—close proximity to the best of what downtown DC has to offer yet a refreshingly quiet location in a walkable, residential zone of Glover Park. Perched on a hill in Upper Northwest, the contemporary-meets-down-to-earth venue pays homage to nearby Rock Creek Park with décor details like hues of green, stenciled plants and historical images and maps. Urban intrigue complements quiet comfort in this Kimpton gem that is kid-friendly and health-conscious, too.

Rooms are large and extremely comfortable. Bathroom was small but highly functional. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly. The restaurant was a bit of a disappointment. The reviews were good but when we decided to try the American breakfast we were disappointed. Toast came out cold. Potatoes had no taste. Eggs were fine. Bacon was probably the best part and that was ok. Coffee was terrible. We didn’t return.

I was there at the hotel, booking that day because my mother was at Walter Reed. The check-in young lady so compassionate and understanding. Truly outstanding customer service! The hotel is only a mile and a half from Walter Reed which made it extremely convenient to pull right in, and park downstairs in their garage and get out early in the morning. Will be using my Hyatt credit card more often. You definitely get more value for your points than Marriott.

We stayed overnight and enjoyed this very recently renovated hotel. It's bright, spacious, and welcoming. The modern decor is a bit minimalist but the bed, room appointments, and bath were all first-rate. And the price is reasonable. One minus: the bathroom has a motion-activated light; if you get up during the night to use the bathroom, the light comes on with blinding blindness that is disorienting and can make it difficult to get back to sleep.

Excellent
GGuest UserI have enjoyed several stays at Hotel Hive over the past year and it gets better each time. This place elevates ”quirky” to an art form. Every room is unique, and the building itself is neatly wedged between F and Virginia Ave on the fringe of the GW campus and is in walking distance to the Kennedy Center. For more ambitious hikers you can walk just about anywhere in DC within 45 min. -- or if you really like to live dangerously, roll the dice with Metro at nearby Foggy Bottom. West End DC is generally quiet and bucolic with a lot of students dotting the sidewalks day and night. Note: Hive is a Funkatorium. It wears Hipster on its sleeve but does so with warmth, style, and the right amount of snark. (If you like Hampton Inn, you might not like it here). As a micro, some rooms 6 feet wide, some a foot or two larger than the bedframe, but the coveted Octagon rooms offer 8 windows of streaming light. I played with the automatic shades for a couple of hours. The staff is unfailingly charming, with positive energy bordering perky. (I normally hate perky but for them it works). Brooke, Kiera, and Q are adorable and sit way up on the service chain. (A part of me wanted to give a fake 1-star review simply on the off chance I might dissuade one of you cuz on busy weeks rooms can be hard to come by. But the staff worked too hard to do that).
GGuest UserOn Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, I purchased two day passes to the Ven's Rooftop pool. It was great weather and the DC public pools were, for the most part, closed. Rather than spend 2k+ on a pool membership in the region (cannot afford that), my son and I have set a goal to hit as many hotel rooftop pools that offer daypasses. The Ven was a nice experience. So, I could totally recommend the one-off visit to the pool and to check out the views of DC. Totally fun to see the Dupont circle Metro stop glass roof (being repaired) and a number of other cool buildings. Always a plus-- my son didn't bring any devices, so he read books and lounged by the pool. It's not really a great lap swimming pool there at the Ven. But, I once had someone teach me how to ”Aqua-jog” and no one there made me feel like I was an idiot for doing that. The package supposedly includes the hotel's gym. But that's in the basement of the hotel. It felt like it was a little understaffed at the hotel and I didn't feel comfortable asking for access. Anyway, I was there for the pool. I also was not offered my ”canned cocktail of choice.” I could have demanded it, but the very sweet gentleman tending the pool food bar/drinks was on his third day, and was a little befuddled that I didn't have a room number to charge things to. HOWEVER, I will admit, I tipped the gentleman and he helped us manuever getting two loungers. THAT WAS WORTH IT. He was super helpful. It was crowded and I was not excited about spending the day there sitting on benches. I asked and 20 minutes later he helped us make it work. THANK YOU. So, for a one-off-- totally worth it! Will I pay a monthly membership fee. Maybe not. Unless people somehow hook me up very clearly with that air hockey table...
GGuest UserMy experience was excellent A+ since I entered. The front desk service was perfect, the lobby area and bathrooms was clean and good smell. You can appreciate the surroundings and the architecture of the buildings and the state of conservation. My super spacious King bed room with a kitchenette and everything clean. Good breakfast. Good location near the places of interest to visit. If you like a quiet place to rest, this is the perfect place. It will be my favorite in the state.
GGuest UserThe staff is amazing. It was raining one night while walking to dinner and the front desk gave me her own personal umbrella to use. Our flight was cancelled and booking an extra night stay was very easy and the staff was so accommodating. The rooms were great too. There is no view, but the layout of the rooms are pretty great and quiet. The ”06” rooms are the best in the hotel and I would request this room on any floor. The location is a block from metro stations. Also walking distance to white house and many restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.
GGuest UserHotel stay was nice, easy check in, valet was not orginized safely and had us stopping in the middle of the road to get out and offload luggage. There was not a designated, safe area for valet to handle the vehicles. Elevator smelled like sweaty workers and had poor air circulation, the hall way smelt like ****(not always a bad thing, just not at that time and place), and the most disappointing thing was the horrible service upstairs at the ”resturaunt and bar.” Service was non-existent and they were not busy in the slightest, the music was all ”hard” rap music cursing that was not appropriate at that time considering there were still families present. My wife and I sat there for 30 minutes before I had to ask the bartender to make us a drink and I had to pay the bill at the hostess stand since our waiter never came at any point.
GGuest UserMy wife and I just spent 6 wonderful days staying at the Hilton Garden Inn! The hotel is in a great location and is very clean and well appointed but I must say, the thing that puts it over the top is the exceptional service!! From our check in at the front desk with Tyler who took care of all of our needs and always had the time to chat and answer any questions to the servers we encountered it was fabulous. A special call out to the following people: Robert the bartender was simply the best! In addition to making great drinks, he was very personable, engaging, and became a friend during our visit. The restaurant servers were equally fantastic. Nitporn, Mooggii, and Amel, we’re phenomenal!!They went out of their way every day to greet us and took the time to take a sincere interest in us personally and how our trip was going. They were very efficient and always had a smile on their face no matter how hectic the restaurant became. They also became friends during our visit. We have traveled around the world and stayed at many hotels in our life but never received better service even very expensive 5 star establishments. This is now our hotel of choice in DC and will highly recommend it to all of our friends in Oregon!!
GGuest UserI traveled to DC with my preteen and teenage sons for a basketball game. The property didn’t receive my reservation (booked through 3rd party) but the front desk staff took the time to make it right and get us set up. They had excellent customer service throughout our stay.
This hotel was VERY clean. I was actually surprised because I use to stay here frequently about 10 years ago and expected some things to run down a bit. It turns out that the hotel is very modernized and looks just as good now as it did a decade ago.
The location is perfect as it’s right in the middle of the NoMa neighborhood and it is right next to the NoMa/Gaulludet (Red Line) Metro station. There are a few small shops across the street and a 7 Eleven next door if you are looking for a quick bite.
The room itself was comfortable. My youngest son and I slept soundly on the queen sized bed and my oldest slept on the couch. He was pretty comfortable without even folding the couch down.
Overall, I will definitely book here again as I frequently visit DC. Fo how inexpensive this hotel is, the quality was phenomenal. I can’t wait to go back.
GGuest UserGreat place to stay in DC, close to shops and restaurants. Great Customer Service. Rooms and amenities are very clean. Breakfast selection is great. Very quiet rooms. I really enjoyed my stay here. Thank you
GGuest UserThis hotel is very good. I have stayed there many times. It is not too far or too tiring to walk to the White House and several major museums. When I returned from my trip, I didn't book any nearby hotels, so I stayed in the lobby here for a whole night. The hotel staff was very friendly. Will come again!
GGuest Userwe arrived around 10am and were fortunate enough to be allowed early check-in. desk guy was nice, and was able to speak english. we needed the rest after a grueling red-eye. i was unaware of how far out the place was from most of what we were there to see. this resulted in spending enough money on Lyft to afford a ”swankier” place further into the city. my bad. after a brief rest, we met some family and walked around alot. the new target down the block closes at 9, so when we got back to the room around 930pm, we were unable to get supplies for the room, & had to stop at a gas station to get a few things. this is NOT a neighborhood to go walking at night. we were approached a few times, but never threatened, still didnt feel comfortable on the street. the room itself was reasonably clean, & there were no bugs that i could see. beds were firm, and there were mostly feather pillows. 3 per bed. there were multiple ”dings” in the place...beginning with the corners, the walls, and at least 2 pretty serious marks on the tub that had broken the enamel off. a fair bit of the caulking was pulled loose from both the tub and the wall. i was dissapointed to see the back of the dressing vanity was raw plywood. didnt expect that. there was a decent armoire for hanging clothes, with storage cubbies on the side. to the left of that was a reasobly large dresser with enough drawer space to handle what we had brought. immediately above the dresser was a huge flatscreen tv that, while impressive, was far to big for the space. after a bit, we figured out the remote. left of the dresser/tv was a desk & chair. under the right side of which was a 3-legged refrigerator with platic top that kept coming off. above that there was a microwave that proved useful, on top of which was a single cup coffee maker that worked nicely for tea. the furniture overall, seemed repurposed from another motel. most of it didnt match, and looked pretty used. the floor was reasonably clean
