Great service at this camp but it could use an upgrade such as Ashnil Mara just had. A bit more rustic than the other camps we stayed at and very remote. Banonti was a wonderful server and made our trip memorable as he shared much about his culture which we appreciated.

Our stay at Ashnil Camp Samburu was nothing short of exceptional. Javier from Mexico and I sincerely had an amazing 8 nights here, and words are honestly not enough to express how grateful we are to the entire team. From the very beginning, the reception staff were incredibly welcoming, warm, and always ready to assist with any information we needed in a timely and professional manner. The hospitality throughout our stay truly made us feel at home. A special thank you goes to Daniel and Lino at the restaurant for their outstanding service, kindness, and attention to detail. They consistently went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of. Their positive energy and professionalism made every meal experience memorable. Room service was always up to par, the rooms were comfortable and well maintained, and the entire facility itself is beautiful, peaceful, and perfectly blends with the Samburu wilderness while still feeling very homely. We sincerely thank the entire Ashnil Camp Samburu team for making our stay so special. May you continue offering the same incredible hospitality to all future guests who choose to experience this wonderful place. Highly recommended.

Although I was brought up in Kenya I never had the opportunity to go to Samburu and it was the recommendation of our Nairobi travel agent, Lets Go Travel, that we did and I was very happy that we did. Samburu was so different to the Masai Mara that I know so well and love and where we moved to after this. Samburu/Buffalo Springs was much drier and had quite a different mix of animals including all the Samburu ‘Five’ that we saw. The Ewaso Nyiro River was just a trickle when we were there and there were all sorts of animals coming down to drink throughout the day including big groups of elephants. We were lucky to be the first vehicle early in the morning to find a pair of young leopards playing in an old tree just ahead of us. The tented accommodation is excellent, each tent has a little deck outside. There are hordes of vervet monkeys around and baboons too that the staff keep shooing away from the main areas. On a lovely hot day we all enjoyed time in and around the pool. Food and beverage were both very good, too much to eat and served by wonderfully attentive and friendly staff. Ashnil is small enough not to feel you’re one of a big crowd- highly recommend it. I would strongly recommend that you organise your travel agent to pay all the park entry fees as we did. I note that some visitors were held up trying to pay by credit card and one might not want to be traveling everywhere with wads of cash. There is WiFi access in the lounge area.

This was our first stop on our sixteen day safari. From the minute we came through the gates there were animals everywhere. The lodge, which is fairly new, is set down by the river. From the bar and eating area one can see elephants, giraffe and a myriad of other animals, either on the other side of the fence or the river. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Although not fussy about buffets, we found the found good and service excellant. Our room was fantastic, one of the best ambiences we had on our safari. Elephants would walk fifteen feet from the front of our deck. Great bathrooms and very spacious. A fan to turn on if one was to warm. After our game drives we were able to cool off in the pool while watching the resident baboons dig at the grass. My only caution would be to wear insect repellant around the bar in the evenings. I did'n't and some small insect used my legs for their meal. I wasn't bothered but our friend had to get some medication for all the bites. We also took a trip out to a local Samburu village, which we found to be a very enlightening cultural experience. Our village guide, a local women named Purity, was very forthright and honest about their lives. We visited the school and left some supplies for them. There is a bit of a bead gauntlet to go through after the tour, but it wasn't to intimidating. I am glad we went and were able to help people who have so little and are trying to make their children's life better A great setting, a picturesque location and a wonderful hotel. Loved every minute of it. We would defineatly recommend staying there.

A very good lodge run by excellent staff. Everybody was always smiling and very kind. The service was great. We were welcomed warmly. We didn't know that Buffalo spring doesn't accept cards and we were stuck at the gate, but one of the rangers rang Ashnil manager and they kindly sorted it out. This was very helpful for us and we were grateful not to have to drive back looking for an ATM. The camp is big and fenced, so it doesn't feel wild. Our tented room was good, ventilated and cool at night ( surprisingly so considering the location). The bathroom was okay with a good shower. Food was good with some vegetarian options. Overall a very good value. The reserve is beautiful with lots of wildlife

This camp already comes with many wonderful reviews, and I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. There are not many ‘mid-range’ price camps in the Samburu area but Ashnil is a great choice. Comfortable accommodation, decent shower, very peaceful setting. All meals are good particularly the main courses. But the stand out feeling I had from Ashnil Samburu is the people, who were all so warm, friendly and kind. This is what makes a memorable stay. Asante sana.

Ashnil Samburu Camp is a luxury tented lodge located in the Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, right on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. I 🐾 Wildlife & Safari Highlights The "Samburu Special Five": This is one of the few places where you can see five rare species: the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Beisa Oryx, and the Gerenuk (the long-necked antelope). River Sightings: Because the camp fronts the Ewaso Nyiro River, guests often see large herds of elephants crossing the water or lions resting in the shade of the doum palms directly from the camp's decks. Birding Paradise: With over 400 recorded bird species, it is a top destination for bird watchers. ⛺ Luxury Accommodation Unique Views: The tents are spaced out under a canopy of acacia trees and doum palms, offering 360-degree views of the surrounding savannah. 🍽️ Dining & Amenities Riverside Dining: The Surpelei Restaurant serves a mix of international, Oriental, and traditional African cuisines while overlooking the river. The Swimming Pool: A central feature of the camp, the outdoor pool is surrounded by sun loungers and offers a perfect spot to cool off between morning and afternoon game drives. Bush Meals: On request, the camp organizes "Bush Breakfasts" or "Sundowners" (drinks at sunset) in the middle of the reserve for a truly immersive experience.

We just finished our 19 day safari with 23 people. All of them agreed that this was the best place that we stayed. Roomy, well appointed tents. You could see elephants across the river when you got up in the morning. Nice pool. Great staff. And the food was the best! NO BUFFETS. All meals were off a menu, well prepared and beautifully presented. WOW! And the serving staff were also the best...professional and attentive. Can't wait to go back!

Wow, what an amazing place to stay and experience all the beauty of Samburu. All the Ashnil Samburu staff made us feel so welcome and right at home, what a wonderful Christmas Eve with the local Samburu tribe dancers. A huge thank you to Sheila for her lovely hospitality.
