We have stayed at the USA many times so we had the expectation that it would be a good experience. When we stayed there this past weekend it was far from a good experience. When we checked in at 3:00 everything seemed the same except the clerk said she was going to take me to show me my room. I had booked through the USA website a king room in the Annex. She took me to a second-floor room in the main building. When I told her I had booked a room in the Annex she said those rooms were not ready and I should not have been able to book a room there. Next issue is the key card would not work on the door and the smoke detector was beeping. She asked if we could come back in a half hour as they needed to change the batteries on the door and smoke detector. So, they did not give me the room I booked and then it was not ready at check in time. We went and grabbed a bite to eat and went back. At that point I’m told that they could still not get the key card to work so they moved us to a different room which was a two-queen room – not a king room. When they take us to that room, there is no power, it was freezing in there, the TV was not hooked up, there were boxes in the corner, and the smoke detector was beeping. This room was in no way ready to be rented out. Again, we were asked to wait until they could get this room ready for us. It took over two hours for us to get into a room. On top of all that when I told the clerk that the queen rooms are less expensive than the king room and the Annex rooms are more expensive than the main building rooms, she said “actually the queen rooms are more expensive than the king rooms”. I had to pull up the rooms on their own website to show her the prices to prove to her that I had paid more for an Annex King than what I was given. She did finally call the manager and he fixed that however in my opinion that is what she should have done in the first place without me having to prove it to her… The hotel is undergoing renovations, there is “stuff” all over the place. Boxes and furniture on the balconies are trip hazards to say the least. The staff kept saying that we only opened a week ago so that is why things are in disarray. If your rooms and property are not ready for guests, then you should not be open!! Other notes – there were nails in the parking lot. The walkway looked like they had not been cleaned since last season and there was trim missing in the bathroom of our room. You could see black mold where the old molding was. We travel a lot and have stayed in many wonky places so can tolerate a lot however in this situation the very worst part was, there was never an apology for the inconvenience. That is just bad form!! Unless we are really pressed for a last minute place to stay, I doubt we will ever stay here again.
