The Globe Inn Wells

Great room in central location. Very good breakfast. Bar expensive as most pubs in wells are . Edinburgh inn round the corner where the local's go cheaper. All in all I would stay again in this hotel.

We moved rooms the day before to go to Arch House as we wanted it to be quieter, and the staff were so lovely, helpful and accommodating. We loved our new little room (33) and had a great night's sleep followed by lovely breakfast and super staff. Would definitely return.

Lovely stay at The Arch House, comfortable quirky room with upstairs sofa bed and bathroom. This room is definitely not suitable for the less able as there are stairs involved and the bathroom is upstairs from the bedroom. Breakfast was at The Globe which was a 5min walk away and it was delicious. We would definitely be more than happy to stay here again.

Service in pub and staff excellent Room was ridiculously hot and radiator valve was in corner so to adjust was very difficult under a desk so left alone

We have just returned from staying at ‘The Globe’ in Wells. My partner booked this as a surprise for my birthday yesterday as we have always had such a great time in Wells but I have come back feeling thoroughly deflated and disappointed. We were met in the hotel yesterday by a cheerful young gentleman who started to check us in who was then rudely interrupted by another member of staff there who apparently is in charge of checking people in . From the moment the lady started checking us in we found her to be very rude and abrupt moaning that we hadn’t booked our 8 month old baby in even though there was a request for a cot which they were aware of and had added a £15 charge for a grubby travel cot. The lady then proceeded to grumble that we hadn’t booked the baby in for dinner also and made us feel that our baby was unwelcome in the establishment. The lady then proceeded to try and see if our room was ready but couldn’t get hold of house keeping so stormed across to the room to see if it was ready. When she returned she stated the room was ready other than the Prosecco not being in the room which my partner had organised as a surprise which she ruined. We were then taken across to our room (no.14) which is supposed to be a ‘Best’ room which at best I would describe as average. The bedroom is large as is the bathroom but both were disappointing. The curtains in the bedroom were filthy at the bottom, the head board was broken the springs were coming through the mattress and the floor felt gritty. In the bathroom the smaller hose on the shower did not work the tiles in the shower were dirty and there are all marks up the wall. The toiletries are all plastered with stickers stating do not take home and the shampoo nozzle was so blocked up you couldn’t get any shampoo out of it. We had dinner in the pub last night and that was enjoyable and the staff who were working were very pleasant and attentive which was lovely after such a rude greeting. We then proceeded to go back to our room for what turned out to be a very broken nights sleep. You can hear everything going on in every room around you from people walking around, noise from tvs ,water running and dogs barking there just didn’t seem to be adequate insulation the prevent all the sounds from travelling. Then to top it off when waking up this morning my partner and I both had several bites on our body which we believe may be from fleas after dogs being in the room.

Located on Buttlands green in Wells next the Sea, a short walk from all the action. This looks like it's trying to be a gastro pub with accommodation. We booked their best room - £250 per night! It should have been fabulous but was poor - cleaners didn't bother with the bathroom; staff smoked under the bathroom and lobby windows (so they couldn't be left open); coffee machine produced Luke warm coffee; no fridge in the room; bathroom sink didn't drain; shower head clogged; waiter told us venison pie crust was gluten free - it wasn't so pie was served with no top! Breakfast was OK but you have to pre-book a time. No parking - so you take your chance around the green (contrast with the Crown which is on the same green but has parking)

Unless you're dog mad I'd give this a miss! Yes I understand they have a dog friendly policy but this is literally a doggie hotel and I don't think it warrants 4 stars as a result. Although room was warm comfortable with nice big bathroom, nice products and no shortage of hot water the decor was rather underwhelming for a 4 star hotel and the hard floors throughout made me wish I'd brought my slippers. It was no doubt aimed at the many paws passing through. However it was clean. We asked to move breakfast tables 2nd day to avoid the barking and staff were very obliging. I do feel it's also a hygiene issue though. Quality and choice was good however. . Evening menu was family friendly, nicely presented run of the mill options but probably won't appeal to fine diners or health conscious foodies. Overall a pleasant stay but not really the 4star experience we were expecting.

Beautiful place to stay with amazing friendly staff and fab food. Was a wee bit disappointed that when we came back from The Thursford Chris**as spectacular at 10.30 and wanted a little nightcap it was all closed. Wish that there had been somewhere to go.

We stayed in the annex called The Arches. Very good except for poor lighting outside the room and a temperamental key code to get into the complex. It was also further away from the main hotel than we expected. Next time we will stay in the main hotel.
