Since the renovation, this hotel is just lovely. We stayed in one of the deluxe manor rooms and it was massive, with a big comfortable bed and pillows. Lush bathroom with amazing, powerful shower to boot. We sparred all afternoon and slept like a log. The breakfast was very tasty. The only thing that was a bit weird, the bar man (we had been chatting to earlier in the evening) knocked on our door very late on, when hubby answered he just said he was sorry and he'd got the wrong room! So the staff were very friendly! Apart from that, great stay. We've booked again. x

Such comfortable beds, the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The value for money is outstanding and the staff couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful. I will most definitely be returning

My partner and I visited for an evening. We spent a few hours in the spa which was relaxing. We upgraded our room to a suite and it was beautiful, spacious and lovely and warm. We ate in the restaurant, the food was delicious. Staff were friendly, attentive and we’d love to return.

Arrived after a v long day and hours of driving, so keen to relax. Staff were welcoming and efficient, with check in easy and no fuss. Plenty of history with the hotel and lots of features sitting comfortably with modern upgrades to make your stay enjoyable. Clearly a recent revamp has been beneficial to the establishment and in keeping with the building. Bar and dining areas pleasant and staff again attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Menu in the restaurant covered most tastes and a couple of steaks with drinks arrived without long waits. A cheese board followed again without any hassle the staff were busy, but not stressed. I'd add that being able to book a slightly later dinner reservation would have been a bonus, but we're aware that hospitality is under pressure with costs/margins and running staff and facilities later isn't always an option these days when the numbers just don't make it possible. Likewise we know that in the N East late night fine dining isn't huge with many, so not a deal breaker for us. Room was comfortable with a large bed and a newly refurbished bathroom that had an excellent shower and bath, likewise loads of hot water which was great pre dinner (often it's the large hotels that fail here early evening running out of hot water) as it helped ease the stiffness of a long drive in the car. Breakfast offered plenty of options and again another group of staff were friendly and efficient, with minimal wait for food and tea. We didn't use the spa while staying on this occasion, but it looks well worth a visit. Checkout no fuss and completed readily to have us on our way without delay. We would certainly stay here again and we hope to do so v soon.

I visited the Manor House Hotel and Spa on Saturday 2nd March for a 1 night stay which was for 12 guests. I had organised a night away, with private dining for 13 guests for a special occasion celebrating a 60th birthday. I first spoke to Johnathan and Sarah via email in December and continued communications right up till the planned event in March. Both were super helpful in the planning, sharing of information and delivering of the event too. They kept me up to date with the latest menus, pre-orders for food; it was so very organised. Everything was flawless for the whole stay, and nothing was to much for any member of staff. Our private dining room was set up on arrival and the room looked fantastic. We enjoyed games, music and lots of catching up before our dinner was served. The 3 course meal served was absolutely outstanding, the food was cooked to perfection and every guest was satisfied with their food choice. Staff were so attentive and couldn't do enough for the whole night. I noticed there were 2 other large parties happening at the hotel that evening too, and staff still managed a 5* service. The rooms have recently had a refresh and they were light, roomy and modern. The colours chosen for the rooms were beautiful too, and the headboard for the bed really brought a focus and pop of colour to the room. The room was decorated to a very high standard with minimal decor and furniture and it had everything that you needed. A great touch in the room was the lovely wooden box full of Ringtons Tea, Coffee and Biscuits (my favourite). I had a lovely view of the gardens from my room too, it was very peaceful and minimal road noise was heard (we slept with the window open). My only tiny negative was that there was no full length mirror in my room, this is something I prefer but it didn't impact the stay at all. Also there was no bin in the bathroom, but a quick phone call to reception and one was brought up swiftly. Breakfast was served 8am-10am on a Sunday, and there was such a wide selection of cereals, bread and fruit along with your choice of a cooked breakfast too. Again, staff were very friendly and happy to help. All breakfasts served were exceptional, and I think those might've been the best poached eggs I've ever had. Tea and coffee flowed continuously with staff refilling multiple times for our large party, again nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A wonderful service for breakfast! I cant wait to return and stay again, and I'd love to try the spa on my next stay too! (I've heard nothing but good things). I look forward to the next visit. Thank you to all of the fabulous staff at The Manor House Hotel and Spa for looking after myself and the rest of the party during our stay. We had a blast!
