We stayed 2 night on arrival in india and 1 night before departure. This was an unbelievably cheap Trip-a-Deal 2-for-1 package and having lived in India long ago, our expectations of a 3-star hotel were modest. Now, the hotel is in need of refurbishment, certainly, but on the credit side-- it's a big list: clean rooms, clean bedding, good beds, hot water, facilities (tea/coffee especially + water) that worked, fast, helpful and attentive staff, adequate buffet breakfasts--enough Indian range to suit guests and sufficient Western stuff, GOOD a la carte meals (we ate Indian, can't say about the western but hey, what are you in India for?) As a base for roaming out during the day and collapsing at night, it worked fine. On our one-night return, we got mixed up in a Sikh wedding which was great fun though the lifts weren't coping with all the to-ing and fro-ing, but also meant we were in a room that _really_ needed refurbishment but again, the long positive list was the same. We would use again: it's a way out of central Delhi but you get what you pay for which in this case is entirely reasonable. Taxis and tuk-tuk abound and it's only a short walk to nearby suburban bazaars--or a stroll in the cute Hari Nagar Tanki Park opposite! Oh, and the street is quiet. Three pieces of advice. TIP people. Washroom, porters, concierge, restaurant, security gaurds. It's only one or two $AUD a time and it's both appreciated and needful. Second: a bit of Hindi opens hearts, minds and doors, even if you're garbling it out of a phrasebook. You become the entertainment, you see, and everyone feels good. Finally: go with the flow. This is India and when the inevitable SNAFUs hit, all will appreciate your patience and the phrase "koi bat nahin".
