Sommerville Resorts

This is one of the most incredible places I'v ever been to. I really did not know what to expect initially when i booked but the amazing communication put my mind at ease. i can tell right away it was gonna be an awesome getaway. The rooms are so clean, spacious and peaceful and the resort is so conviently located, surrounded by great eataries And within close distance to the beach. Everyone here is some of the most incredible human beings i've ever met in my life. Kind, genuine, patient, nuturing and protective Mrs Joycee ( the owner )is the best! Mr. Baker, Lisa, Andrew, Orville, and Damali all sooo amazing. i can't wait to come back until that time i carry them all in my heart. Please book your stay here, you won't be disappointed💖

This Sommerville west end Negril is now my home away from home. I mean, you arrive as guests but leave as family. The owner's name is Joyce, who is now our Aunt Joyce. She goes above and beyond the call of duty. She named the place after her grandmother "Sommerville" this to me shows how family oriented she is. Baring all that let me add, the Sommerville resort, isn't like one of those big all inclusive resorts. But you get an even better feeling being at the Sommerville, because you are treated so "exclusively" that you won't miss a thing.

I started off my weekend in Negril on a bad note. The Airbnb I rented had been closed for 2 yrs. Luckily Miss Joy loved across the street. She came to my rescue. I followed her to a bed and breakfast she owns with her grandkids. Did I luck out. The place was immaculate. I was the 5th guest to stay in this beautiful place. When we arrived she made me a rum punch to help me forget... yup I don't remember. Then we looked at the room. There was not a speck of dust anywhere. You could literally eat off of all the floors it was so clean. Along with the room came an authentic Jamaican breakfast. If you think the room is good you will be blown away by Chef Bakers cooking. Another genuine soul. We were talking about local trees and fruit. One we spoke of was the breadfruit. The next morning when I arrived at breakfast chef had gone out to get some so I could try it. I have had so many great experiences this one is now in the top. If you come to Jamaica and get to Negril this is a must stay location. Other benefits are it is so close to everything. Ricks is a 5 minute walk, downtown and 7 mile beach is about 10 to 15 minutes. There is gated parking on site as well.When you get there please tell my new friend Joy, that Josh says hello.

Our stay at this resort was absolutely stupendous! We had arrived sometime in the evening and the staff there that welcomed us were very warm, courteous and friendly. Check-in was quick and we were escorted to our room in no time. The rooms were clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. We opted for one of their suites with King bed on the second floor and we were not disappointed. Breakfast in the mornings at their dining room “Raymond's Bistro”, was amazing. We just could not get enough of their chef’s cooking, and their Jamaican breakfast is a must have! The food at the resort is just delicious! The property is nice, relaxed and quiet enough for the perfect vacation. This was much better than staying cooped up in those all-inclusive resorts. We liked the fact that the property is close to some great spots and other local restaurants by the water i.e. 3 Dives, Rick’s Café etc. Places like the town center, crafts market and different spots on the 7-mile beach are just a few minutes taxi. We were interested in doing some day tours and activities while we were in Negril and the Guest Services Agent at the desk was most helpful in giving us info on things to do in the area and book them. We did ATVs, horseback riding, waterfalls, Luminous lagoon, Black river safari, Joseph’s Cave and the Appleton Rum tour during our trip there. All in all, we enjoyed our stay to the fullest despite what’s happening with Covid, but we weren’t overly worried because we noticed that areas on the resort were continuously being sanitized throughout the day. My partner and I also had the opportunity of meeting with the owner of the resort Joyce, who was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions prior to our arrival. We can’t stop thanking Joyce and her team for the exceptional service we received, the staff here go above and beyond. We will be returning!!

From the moment I stepped onto the property I felt home… I was greeted by Darnali and Joyce. After being welcomed with a chilled rum punch and a quick check in time to relax with a massage and a smoothie brought at turn down.. The property is fresh and very modern. The beds are comfortable and all bedding and decor very well appointed rooms. Coffee maker and all to go with it… The bathroom was amazing!! A spa private bath.. Large shower with rainfall shower.. ahhhhh …his and hers sinks spacious for a couple to freshen up. Breakfast to order the chef takes care of special dining restrictions (gluten and dairy intolerance) thank you again for accommodating me . The gardens are pretty (a little burnt from recent storms but will replenish in quick order growing season year round). Joyce and her staff are very welcoming and always there to assist. The Bed and Breakfast is so clean and nicely decorated. Water is very hot for a relaxing bath or shower and the air conditioning is very good compared to what I experienced at a resort in Negril. If you want to experience Jamaica and have fun at an affordable price without paying all inclusive resort fees book this bed and breakfast it is close to everything and in a safe area.

We wanted to start the new year with a new experience. Jamaica was just that and we managed to find a wonderful place to stay in Negril called The Sommerville. We were struck by just how clean and hygienic our room was. Staff were so accommodating and at no point did we feel we were asking too much during our weeks stay. The powerful air conditioning provided immediate relief from the heat, the high pressure showers and spacious facilities in the bathroom made it feel like home from home. We chose to make full use of the breakfast on offer at the The Sommerville provided by the wonderfully charming Mr Baker. That’s before heading out towards the cliffs, the beach and town square. The location of The Sommerville was perfect for our requirements as it’s situated within walking distance to the the major spots in Negril. The proprietor Miss Joyce was also on hand to assist with advice and answer the questions we had. It was a personal touch that we weren’t expecting but was so valuable in making us feel so welcome and safe. After days lazing on the beech and nights jamming to reggae music, our freshly made bed provided the comfort and tranquility required during our dream holiday. We will be returning to Jamaica next year and we will be looking no further than The Sommerville and Miss Joyce to provide our accommodation requirements!

In two words, unexpectedly awesome! The service, the property, the food, the staff, comfort and I could go on. Whilst this B&B was not within our budget for this trip, we could not have stayed anywhere else. Don't take my word for it, check it out 👍.

This place was a great stay! Food was delicious! It was very clean and the hospitality was amazing. Auntie Joyce is simply amazing! I would love to stay here again when I return to Negril. Make sure you book here for a great Negril experience.
