Galena Inn

Have been visiting the Inn for several years now. Have always enjoyed both the amenities and the history of the Inn itself. And the staff on hand are always pleasant and very helpful. However, over the years it seems that the owners have let the place go, particularly the exterior. They also need to up their game a bit regarding the breakfast. As it is now they would be better off charging less for the room and not offering any breakfast. Oh and please get some fresh microwave popcorn! The ones you have out now expired 4 years ago.

We liked the Innkeeper and overall it's an OK place to stay. It is one the most expesnive places to stay in Galena so it would serve them well to spend some of that money on maintaining the place. Unfortunately it's pretty run down.

We booked the Victorian Mansion in Galena, IL to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary, and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. The photos online showed a beautiful jacuzzi tub and cozy fireplace—both major reasons we chose this place. What we got was nothing like advertised. The jacuzzi tub did not work at all. When we mentioned it, the host casually told us it hasn’t worked “in several years.” Yet the listing still has photos of it as if it’s fully functional. Only later did they claim that somewhere on the website it says it doesn’t work. Why keep the photos up if it’s non-functioning? Completely misleading. The fireplace experience was even worse. The host took several attempts to light it, filling the entire room with fumes. We had to air out the space just to breathe. Not how you want to spend your anniversary. The exterior of the property was a total mess. Chipped paint, rotting porch, broken cement on the sidewalks—an actual tripping hazard. Nothing like the charming photos online. The outdoor hot tub was disgusting—covered in tarps, smelling like rot, and absolutely not as pictured. No one in their right mind would get in it. At that point, we knew we couldn’t stay there. We left immediately and asked for a refund, and they denied it, even though the amenities advertised were either non-functioning or downright unsafe. It’s terrible business practice and even worse hospitality. We had looked forward to a peaceful anniversary getaway, and instead we got frustration, disappointment, and a wasted trip. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. AWFUL experience.

More interesting than the average tourist town, with many shops offering works by local artists, and also considerably variety of restaurants.

Staff friendly, room clean, didn’t go to breakfast and hot tub closed for season. Room clean, nicely appointed. Pleasant stay perfect location

We stayed in the Lincoln room which was very nice. The Inn is walking distance from many shops and restaurants downtow. It is located on a hill and there are many stairs during the walk downtown.

We had a great time on our weekend vacation. The Galena Inn was such a nice place to stay. We enjoyed the quaint charm of the place and was greeted warmly. The breakfast was delicious.

This little bed and breakfast was lovely. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. The sit down breakfast was wonderful. A great place to stay!
