Cloran Mansion Bed & Breakfast

I booked a weekend at Cloran Mansion in Galena, Illinois for my 75th Birthday. I chose Cloran after much deliberation and I must say my choice was excellent. I felt transported back in time of elegant decor and comfort. Our room was the biggest and had a lovely, large bathroom with a beautiful jacuzzi for two, as well as an antique dressing/make-up table for me. The experience was a combination of old and modern comforts which made our stay quite enjoyable. Our breakfasts were deliciously prepared and offered by our charming hosts/owners themselves; Paul and Janet. This personal touch was especially endearing. I highly recommend a stay at The Historic Cloran Mansion for a soothing, pampered and enjoyable weekend in Galena.

We loved our time at Cloran Mansion. We were in Antonio's Cottage which was very suitable for us and our two doggies. Every day breakfast was different and always unique. Sitting around the big dining room table with other guests sharing stories was wonderful. Paul is a historian so is very interesting to talk with and he is also a great host. When we come back, we'll stay here again, for sure!

We booked a stay at Cloran Mansion for a quick trip to Galena. The booking process was easy, the stay was delightful! Paul went out of his way to give us the perfect stay. it is a beautiful house with comfortable furnishings. Breakfast was delightful.

This was an amazing place. Our room was beautifully furnished, and the breakfasts we had were wonderful. We stayed for 5 nights and had a great, restful stay. Paul was very attentive, always cordial and willing to go beyond to make our stay better. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Paul helped my husband have roses delivered to our room and even had a small anniversary cake there for us! I'd recommend this for couples without children. We'll stay again if we are in the area.

In each and every way this is a wonderful bed and breakfast. The architecture is historic and stunning. The warmth of the hosts top-notch. And breakfast very tasty.

I stayed here with my partner in mid march. What a cool place! The historic mansion sits on top of the hill, across from a the local school, just outside of the main drag in Galena. Paul met us as we arrived, and gave us a brief tour. The old estate was well kept and super clean and welcoming. We stayed in Ann's room. It was cozy and warm. The fire place kept us heated all night, and there was a space heater as well. The room had a big jacuzzi bath and nice shower. Breakfast was delicous and well served. Most importantly, we had to leave early due to a weather emergency, and the innkeeper was incredibly understanding.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Cloran Mansion! Breakfast each day was absolutely delicious. Our room was clean, cozy, and quiet. A perfect place to relax and enjoy each others company. The b&b is not far from the Main Street which was great. We were able to easily get around with no issues. Can’t wait to come back!

Can't say enough good things about this wonderful property and its friendly proprietor, Paul. He has it down pat. Enjoyable laid-back atmosphere, perfect for a pleasant getaway. All the little things you expect to find are there. From Febreze in the bathroom to umbrellas by the front door to nice selection of in-room coffees for the coffee maker (with mini-fridge, too). Mints and cookies wait you by the front door, too. Galena-area brochure provided. We spent 3 lovely weekday nights in the HUGE Sara's Suite (ground floor by the entrance, so no stairs). Very clean, functional room. Comfortable king-size bed and a huge bathroom, with nice jacuzzi (which we used every night). The breakfasts--either at 0830 or 0930 each morning--were amazing, lovely presentation and outstanding food. Nice variety each day. Some nice food surprises. Met some nice people and shared some good conversation with them at breakfast. Great way to start the day. You just turn left, from the big parking lot, and drive down Franklin St. to Main and you're in the heart of Galena for the shopping and eating. Room stayed a bit warm (we turned the heat off but always was around 71 deg F), so needed the ceiling fan at night. There was construction at the High School across the street, so a bit of early morning noise. Glad I brought my ear plugs, though we didn't hear much noise from the other rooms or guests. May be a bit biased, since we had the 3-night weekday special where the 3rd night was only $25. Great value. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We stayed in Ann’s room. It was super nice and so was service and staff! They were excellent the whole time! The food was fantastic! The room was clean! Would definitely stay here again!
