Lakeside Bed & Breakfast

Booked this place 10 months before visit to Australia after seeing photos on website and being promised ‘relax in luxury’. Luxury it was not. We booked for 10 nights. Found out very late in the day you shared a bathroom with everyone else. This is a heritage property so very old and quaint but that shouldn’t preclude the owners from cleaning the rooms! We first noticed about 7 years worth of dust on the window shutters, fireplace, picture above fireplace, skirting boards and around furniture. The rug had 7 years of people’s hair matted into it 🤢. Cobwebs in various places. You then start to question cleanliness of bed under sheets but we were tired so we went to bed. Then two Huntsman spiders appeared from behind the bed. That was it we spent until 1am searching for alternative accommodation. When I mentioned I wasn’t happy with cleanliness of room the reply was “if you do t want to stay here you don’t have to”! We paid for the 1 night then hightailed it out of there to a lovely clean hotel for our remaining 9 nights .

That's what it should be called , a room for rent with free bowl of cereal for breakfast . I gave it 3 stars because the bed was very comfortable . It is in a very nice location also . The downside is that the toilets and shower are shared , the outdoor furniture is in very bad shape , even dangerous . and the most disappointing was the breakfast . Just deceiving advertising breakfast and it is 3 types of serial and a half empty bottle of milk . I was the only guest at this time and felt uncomfortable with 3 of the occupants in the main area most of the evening and very little interaction between me and them . I kind of felt like I was intruding .
