Nothing worse than standing at the bar and being ignored by the member of staff behind the bar, when apparently polishing glasses is more important than serving. So easy to say … “ I’ll be with you in a moment”, but that didn’t happen.

Firstly, the artwork throughout the place is gorgeously curated! We had the steak frittes & the fish and chips, both were something special, all house-made and flavoursome. Had a couple of wonderful red wines too. Staff were friendly and attentive.

A VERY poor experience from start to finish. We had planned a nice, romantic evening on Valentines day. We ordered a cocktail each on arrival and were shown to our table. After a waiting of 35 mins, still no drinks. So a trip to the bar and they had even been started. We ordered our food at the same time. Another wait of over an hour. Another trip to the bar. They had no record of our order at all. Ordered AGAIN and starters arrived 15 mins later. Another wait of 30 mins before main courses arrived. The manager full of apologies and offered us a complimentary pudding. Another 30 min wait and seemed like we'd been forgotten AGAIN. A THIRD trip to the bar to find out what was happening and give our order. By this time my wife just wanted to leave, as she'd had enough. Total waiting time of 2.5 hours. And the restaurant was not busy, with only four tables occupied. Also the place was very cold. I believe this is the only time I've ever placed a review such as this. Ironically the quality of the food was good, but a ruined evening because of the appalling service.

We stayed at The Harcourt Arms last weekend and had the most wonderful stay! The staff were so welcoming they went above and beyond for us. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, our little one even had a big bed all to herself! The hotel itself had such a lovely atmosphere. Overall it was such a fantastic stay we all absolutely loved it and would definitely love to visit again! Thank you so much!

We enjoyed our Sunday lunch at this stylish old pub, which has a smart dining area heated by a log fire. The starters (satay chicken & salad; spicy parsnip soup & onion bhaji & sourdough) were tasty and filling, and the roasts (one beef, one chicken, with all the trimmings) could not be faulted in terms of quality or quantity. Freshly-made horseradish sauce was a nice surprise. £25 per head for two courses, which is good value for the Oxford area. Easy parking and in a good area for country walks.

It felt a lot like Christmas! The hotel made a wonderful festive experience to remember for us. Fabulous food, great atmosphere and happy, friendly, helpful staff who wanted everything to be special. The rooms are beautiful with attention to detail and very clean. We will be back soon and thank you to the whole team.

Absolutely wonderful staff. Made to feel so welcome and at home. The General Manager Dragos was a real professional. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Cotswolds and recommended different attractions for me. The food was excellent and the chef also very friendly. Amazing place. I will be back.

We arrived about 4.30 pm for our overnight stay. Our room looked out to the garden where couples were enjoying the warm sunshine. Our room was very clean and nicely furnished. There has obviously been a great deal of money spent on each individual room. Our bathroom was huge or rather wet room, which my husband nearly managed to flood! There was a tray with a selection of teas but unfortunately no de-cafe tea or coffee. A small coffee machine had also been provided. The floor was a light board throughout which is great during the summer months, but could be cold during the winter and a small mat might be worth adding. We sampled the fish and chips in the evening in the bar dining area. All very enjoyable and helpful staff.
