If you are looking for a really great pub, with delicious food, a fantast team looking after you and a super a**osphere, look no further. The Lion at Pennard has it all. Sunday lunch had a great variety of menu choices. We opted for a roast beef and a roast lamb. Superb! No chewy, grey coloured meat in The Lion. Instead, delicious, succulent and very flavoursome roasts. Loads of seasonal veg. The roast potatoes needed ore roasting as they weren't crispy and it wasn't a problem for manager Barrie and lovely server Liam who quickly replaced our generous portions with new ones. Best yorkies and tasty gravy (could have been a bit thicker). Puddings were outstanding and a great choice. We opted for the rhubarb pavlova which offered a great balance of sweet and tangy, and the frangipani with scrumptious baby apples - look like green cherries, taste like apples, fab!! The team were under so much pressure as all tables were booked, not once but twice, but they provided such a calm and friendly service, taking time to check in but not over-communicate. We would highly recommend this great pub restaurant. Give it a go!!

I really don,t want to write this review, want to keep The Lion all to myself! We were looking for a new place in the Glanstonbury area to make our new base for trips. Well we certainly found it. Outstanding staff, sparkling clean rooms, the food wonderful, and I am hard to please, with can’t eat this and that. I loved the fact, the fresh fruit was not sitting in orange juice! (Thank you a big win on that one!) The staff were happy to swap things. I can safely say, we slept soundly, greeted by staff and all friendly to chat with. I can also say plenty of parking and a really god base for seeing the sights. Well we will probably see you in December. Looking forward to seeing the fire as it looks so cozy, I may not move from the comfy sofas.

Unfortunately our stay wasn’t as enjoyable as it was 12 months ago (see previous review) and it’s unlikely we’ll return. Small issues with the room (bathroom sink tap handle comes off, sink plug didn’t work, wrong toilet seat, television remote randomly working) were disappointing but the main issue was the mattress which was very uncomfortable resulting in a disturbed night sleep. Food in the pub was ok but aspects of both our main courses and our desert were only lukewarm so we were again disappointed.

Our stay at The Lion at West Pennard was an experimental first for us with our young Cockapoo puppy - a first "hotel stay" away from home for her as well as the first time we we were taking a dog with us on a trip, so we set off with some trepidation but - as it turned out - we couldn't have made a better choice than The Lion! The fact that the owners are dog lovers themselves meant the pub was very pet-friendly, from the attention lavished on our puppy by the staff to the convenient "doggy-loo" just outside the rooms to their accommodation of our request to store the fresh ******** we had brought, all of which meant a huge reduction in worry for us. Barrie, the owner/manager, couldn't have been friendlier or more hospitable and the overall a**osphere in the pub was very convivial - you felt it was a happy place run by a happy team, which made the stay all the more enjoyable for us. The food was truly outstanding - Michelin "Bib Gourmand" standard at the very least - and there was a decent wine list to accompany the cooking. The room was quite small, as was the bathroom but this is no fault of the establishment: there were higher-spec rooms available, which we will go for when we return for our next visit. All-in-all, a lovely experience that we would highly recommend!

We have just had the best time staying at The Lion. We had a family do to go to, close by and we couldn’t have found a better place to stay. The rooms were lovely and nothing was too much. Breakfasts are exceptional! Next time, we will make sure we have dinner too! We will be back!! X❤️

This little gem of a place was perfect for an overnight stay with our best friends and our four legged family members. The staff were amazing. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay with our dogs was exactly what we had hoped for. In fact, it well exceeded our expectations. Accommodation was generous, comfortable and our bed was more than big enough! The Ren toiletries were a great touch! We opted to have our evening meal here too and we were not disappointed. It was lovely. If you’re looking for a very dog friendly and accommodating place to stay near Glastonbury or close by, this is it. A thoroughly enjoyable birthday celebration spent here!!

Fantastic pub, great decor and ambiance and always amazing food! I haven’t been disappointed yet, the menu changes regularly but I’ve liked everything I’ve tried. The rooms look amazing- I haven’t stayed overnight yet but plan to… Barrie and his team do a wonderful job…

My mum & I stayed here for 3 nights after reading the reviews & getting a good deal. We had Room 7, very nice & decent sized single beds, very comfy & the added luxury toiletries in the bathroom were amazing. The breakfasts were spot on, certainly set you up for the day. Barrie & the staff were all lovely & nothing was too much trouble. Well done to the amazing team & hopefully will be back sometime in the future.

We visit Glastonbury for the Frost Fayre every year and stay somewhere different locally every time. This was by far the best so far. We may even come back to this one again! The rooms are comfortable and very well equipped. The breakfast included was amazing! The staff were friendly and helpful. The only issues we had while there were a missing hairdryer, which a previous guest must have taken and the room was also really hot, but we turned the heating down and found a fan in the room, which was well needed. Would 100% recommend this Pub/ hotel to friends and family in the future.
