On arriving in the Gambia we were picked up from the airport by taxi and driven to Evergreen Eco Retreat which is lush with trees, plant life, bird life and a feeling of peace. Our homely round houses were well furnished with a spacious and comfy bed, plenty of space to unpack clothes and ensuite bathrooms. Thank you Maria and Greg and Neneh and Fatima for taking such good care of us and for making us feel so at home and of course a big thank you to Maria and Neneh for all the tasty breakfasts and dinners. I had visited the evergreen lodge about four years ago and thought that it would be a perfect retreat to experience, so i came back this march as a guest with my wife and two children and had a real taste of Gambia. The accomidation is very clean and tastfully decorated and the beds are lovely and comfotable. The food is excellent. The surrounding are tranquil and peaceful but not too far from local restaurants and village life, and the beach is a five minute drive,so within walking distance. The enviroment is very safe with no traffic noise. The owners are so friendly and accomidating, they certainaly made our stay warm and welcoming. To say the least i certainly recommend staying here,you wouldnt regret it.

We have recently returned from our annual visit to the Evergreen Lodges. They never disappoint! Marie and Greg are always attentive to your needs without being overwhelming. Their hospitality is second to none. We always value the serenity of Evergreen together with the high standard and creativity of the accommodation. For people like us who love to be immersed in natural surroundings Evergreen is a good choice for a break. The diversity of birds and their songs add to the interest and relaxation. Marie’s cooking is not the least enjoyable part of our visits catering for all tastes and needs! We love the close proximity of beaches offering wildness and more developed facilities if preferred. We have enjoyed an excellent and highly memorable week at Evergreen Eco Retreat. Greg and Maria are amazing and extremely helpful hosts. We are vegan, which was no problem for our hosts; the food was delicious and highly varied each day. The lodges are clean, spacious, very comfortable and set in beautiful gardens, rich with plants and birdlife. The main purpose of our visit was bird watching, which Greg and Maria were very helpful in organising, including an excellent, highly knowledgeable guide. The local beach is within walking distance, although Greg was happy to drop us off by car to save some time. The beach is very pleasant with just a few low key bars/cafes serving drinks and food along miles of sand. Not at all touristy Evergreen is about 45 minutes drive from Banjul airport and the transfer was very smooth with a lovely driver, Papis. We enjoyed a few stunning bird watching trips and saw a huge variety of species across different locations, including an amazing kayaking trip. Evergreen was a perfect location to give easy and speedy access to all our excursions. We will visit again and recommend it highly.

The lovely Greg and Maria have created such a beautiful, laidback eco retreat! Evergreen is in the perfect spot if you want to unwind and enjoy exploring Gambia without staying in the touristy hub. The atmosphere is welcoming, tranquil and very comfortable and they offer truly delicious food that is healthy, authentic and varied. The accommodation is ideal - simple, comfy and eco-minded - I slept very, very well all nights I was there. Greg and Maria have lots of knowledge and contacts for the region and organised trustworthy guides, taxis and airport transfers. I cannot recommend highly enough, as a solo female traveller it was really a perfect place to stay. Equally, I think it would be a great choice for couples and families.

This beautiful camp is just 1 hour from the airport and tourist areas of Serekundu and Banjul, yet feels a million miles away. It is near the coast in amongst traditional farmland, about 1 km from the main coastal highway and hence extremely peaceful, but easy to access. The huts are superbly comfortable and beautifully decorated. Maria and Greg, and their staff, are really friendly and will do anything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The food is superb. I can't recommend this Eco Lodge highly enough Note that most lodges call themselves "eco-lodges". Evergreen is one of the few with true eco credentials - solar power, local food (mostly grown by Greg), etc.

My family and I had a really special visit to Evergreen - which is little hidden piece of paradise in the Gambia. Well located in tranquil Tujureng and within 10 minutes drive to Sanyang Paradise Beach. Evergreen Eco Retreat is thoughtfully designed with clear eco principles, the garden is beautiful and peaceful, the round house lodgings - extremely comfortable, the food carefully prepared was fresh, homemade, plentiful and delicious. What made it even more special was the hospitality and kindness shown by the wonderful owners - Maria, Greg and little Neovi. Highly recommend!

Greg & Maria are wonderful, warm & welcoming hosts, who by the end of two days made us feel like part of the family. They have lovingly created a tranquil oasis, which is extremely luxurious (by eco-lodge standards), while still clearly meeting & exceeding our eco-expectations. The food is authentically Gambian & absolutely delicious. We cannot wait to return for a much longer stay.

My family (2 young children under 6) stayed at Evergreen at the end of December 2022 for two nights. We had an absolutely wonderful time. It is a gem of a place and I would highly recommend staying there. The rooms were of a high standard and very clean. Greg and Maria have paid attention to detail in design and it is clear they have taken the ecolodge title seriously. Greg and Maria have great knowledge about the area and are well connected to their Maria and Greg were attentive to all of our needs and the food there was the best we have eaten in Gambia. We have visited various hotels and lodges in Gambia and have tried various cuisine. The breakfasts were wonderful, Maria made home made bread and provided us with local products. The dinner was delicious, Maria really knows how to make good food. The grounds of their compound were covered with a range of trees so it gives you a good respite from the sun and the heat. 5 stars for exceptional hosts and a wonderful bungalow.
