Absolute steal for the quality of room and breakfast. Definitely recommend

The hotel it's self was lovely ,lovely room ,lovely sea views but the cooked breakfast was not to our standards ,but this will not stop us from returning . Overall a great value for money

I have stayed at many hotels all over the world but VFM is this place excellent bed rooms nice 55" TV that actually worked comfy bed breakfast superb staff very friendly all in all no frills but did what it said on the tin excellent value will stay again.

The positives are the location of the hotel which is sea front and the front of house staff who are all very helpful. It was also helpful to have a kettle and tea and coffee in the room. Unfortunately there are a lot of negatives. The room: the beds were comfortable but small. My friend and I had two small single beds in a twin room that felt cramped. The lighting in the room was very poor. The door lock was antiquated and hard to open. The ceiling had stains and the floor was uneven. The bathroom: the shower stall was small . The shower doors do not close properly and were loose allowing water to go in the bathroom floor. There was no water pressure in the shower. There was no ventilation in the bathroom as the electric X pelair did not work and the mirror consistently fogged. The booking was half board. The breakfast buffet was sufficient and included cereal, juice, with full English breakfast of seven items with toast together with coffee tea. The dinner menu included starter, main and dessert. It sounds a lot but the portion sizes were small. On one occasion the ham pie served would have been sufficient for a child. A ham salad included one very small slice of ham. A chicken curry served one evening included one poppadum and no rice! The fish and chips served included a small spoon of peas and 12 chips although I will say the fish was fresh! Desserts were generally served with a small portion of custard. The cheesecake served on one occasion turned out to be a mousse. There was a small bar and a singer was booked on two nights. The main positive for this hotel is its front of house staff. Unfortunately, the hotel building and the rooms need to be refurbished. The dinner menu was very disappointing. There are a lot of other alternative hotels along the sea front. I would not return to the York Hotel.

A fantastic weekend 4 nights could not fault anything. Staff were brilliant nothing was too much trouble x . Room cosy and fresh . Shower beautifully hot . Breakfast unbearable . Dinner menu to die for and superb carvery on sunday plus full menu too . Thank you York hotel

A good value hotel with nice staff. Hotel itself could do with a bit of tlc. Some window handles missing and bad mastic around frames i presume to seal them shut. Our room was overall good although one of the sink cup holders broken and really should be removed for safety. Also really could do with a reseal around shower cubicle as very bad cracking all round. Overall a pleasant stay but if the hotel just spent a few quid improving things it would make all the difference.

Nice stay. Would have been nice if the advertised buffet breakfast was what we got as this is usually one of the most important choices on how make our decisions. Bed was not very comfy. Apart from that all good.the room was nice and clean as was the bed and bedding.
