The location, hotel, food and leisure facilities are absolutely fantastic. The staff are very friendly but there were numerous delays in regards service and waiting to give food and drink orders and then waiting for those drinks and food.

This hotel is beautiful. We stayed in a large inviting comfortable very clean room. The bed and pillows were also very comfortable. The bathroom was large and very clean. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast was excellent with many choices both hot and cold. We had drinks and delicious scones in the bar for afternoon tea. We had an excellent dinner in the Brehon bar at the Hotel. The scenic views were amazing including overlooking the pretty town of Westport, Clew Bay and the Nephin Mountains. We could walk into town from the hotel with lots of restaurants to chose from and quaint Irish shops to stop in. Parking at the Hotel was easy to get in and out of.

From check in to departure this hotel shows how to treat their guests. Sorry i did not get receptionist name on check in she was so helpful. Went to bar while waiting to check in as we were very early. Eve looked after us so well. Were in roo. 302 lovely comfortable beds and pleasantly decorated. Went to the bar for food Annie was magnificent she was so genuinely nice and helpful. Peter the bar man was very plesant . Trish looked after us at breakfast couldnt have been more helpful. The reception Manager Kasia check us out so friendly. It was a wonderful experience .

Filthy hotel, bathroom in room wasn't cleaned paid for a room I didn't get. Over charged, food was terrible the bar food was gone off and the chicken in the restaurant was pink. I then found excrement on the toilet roll in the main hotel toilet I actually touched it and got sick. The staff were no help. Assistant manager was awful didn't check of the complaints wouldn't contact general manager. My whole family's trip was ruined the two days were awful in the hotel. Got every order wrong . A joke. Didn't rectify any problems on departure of anything made things worse Awful awful hotel not a four star. Never will go back and will be telling everyone I meet not to visit. The way the 5 of us were treated after the price we paid for the 3 rooms two for which were suites was a joke.

The Restaurant was not open and nobody told us in advance. Otherwise the room was comfortable and the staff friendly.

Overall, I would give this hotel the highest of ratings. As a professional traveler, I spend A GREAT DEAL of time in hotels. I have been subjected to the entire spectrum of hotel experiences. It is rare that I actually sit down to write a positive review unless the place truly touches me. That being said, the staff here have done just that. Superb service. From Melissa Corcoran at the front desk, giving a warm Irish welcome, to Carol Rodgers - in the spa - ensuring your leisure experience is second to none. Lorcan, and David were true professional servers and extremely efficient. To the staff, I extend a warm and heartfelt 'thank you'. A few recommendations: 1. Make time for the spa and a trea**ent. 2. Enjoy the views at breakfast. 3. HAVE THE MUSSELS and HAVE THE SEAFOOD CHOWDER! (The chef is a talent...) 4. Make time to enjoy the sunset from the bar. Finally, to the manager and proprietors of Knockranny House Hotel, I wish to say congratulations. You, my friends, have gotten it right! May you continue in your successes.

As always we had a lovely restful stay, this hotel gets the basics right with a good bed, loads of decent sized towels and a lovely breakfast with decent teapots and good coffee and always a welcoming staff. Afternoon tea has deterioated, poor service, no table cloth, no one offered hot water or a tea top up, my sandwich had no butter, mayo,or spread on it and when I asked for some mayo, for the dry bread no reaction to this basic fault. A little surpirsed to see the linen napkins replaced with paper and the mixed crockery for afternoon tea which should feel like a treat time and should be special. Dinner was very tasty, beautifully presented, which takes time but leaves the food served warm not hot, with no offer of an alternative potato available. All fixable and we have already booked our stay for next year and would recomend this hotel.
