Great place to explore the East-South East of Ireland from. The hotel is clean, quiet and welcoming. The staff are very attentive - a special "Shout Out" for Kira who works with the breakfast team. She demonstrated excellent customer service skills and was so helpful. A second "Well Done" for Maria from the Ivy Lounge staff - a memory for detail and outstanding service with a smile. The rooms are very good - we stayed during the hot weather, so no air conditioning was an issue, but they solved the problem immediately with a large cooling fan. Thank you! All in all, great value for money.

We stayed here for three nights mid week end of June into July. On arrival the receptionist was welcoming & the hotel looked lovely although could probably do with an update to brighten it up. Our room was really nice, three beds & also bunkbeds which the children loved. After that it went downhill we had booked dinner in the Ivy bar & went in & looked at the menus which seemed fairly limited. My two children have nut allergies & I have been in a good few hotels & restaurants over the years & never had a problem finding something for them to eat I couldn't believe it when I looked at the kids menu & there wasn't one item on the main course that didn't have nuts in it. My older child got something off the main menu but the younger one couldn't order anything off the kids menu which was ridiculous. So I went looking for the manager & he said there was nothing he could do because all the food was cooked in the same oil & the kitchen could have nuts anywhere which is crazy. We weren't expecting special treatment but I thought maybe they could make something. In the meantime the rest of us had ordered & the manager said leave it with me I'll see what I can do. So he came back & said they could grill a few sausages! Our own dinner was just ok. I cancelled the dinner reservations for the next two nights & went to a lovely restaurant in the town. The breakfast was awful too & staff looked disinterested except for one or two. Iam livid & totally disgusted that there could be a hotel in 2026 that has absolutely no consideration for anyone with allergies or dietary requirements, it's like it or lump it! Wouldn't recommend this place & definitely won't be going back.

We booked the steakhouse overnight special. Which included the room, a 3 course meal for 2 with a bottle of house wine, breakfast and some credit for the spa which we didn't get a chance to use on this stay. Location is great We ate in the Rowan steakhouse restaurant and to say the food was delicious is an understatement. 10/10 The outside terrace was lovely for a drink and there was entertainment in the bar. The room was big enough and clean the ensuite had a shower over the bath. The bed was comfy but small and there was tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast had lots of fresh fruit, cereal, full irish, and a small selection of pastries available. All the staff were polite and friendly Really enjoyed our stay.

About the best thing with this hotel is its convenient location to busy Gorey town. Spent 4 nights there with mixed and inconsistent experience over the few days. Lovely receptionist on arrival. However, cannot say that we found other staff particularly friendly or helpful apart from one young girl in bar. The decor of the hotel is dark and dreary in some areas with ceilings and walls a brownish colour and could do with brightening up. Perhaps they were short-staffed in the dining room but there seemed to be a particular lack of attention to detail I.e. items such as sugar, salt, butter or milk missing from some tables, tables not being cleared and some food not being replenished at breakfast buffet. Good choice of fruit, cereals and breads very good for breakfast but scrambled egg really nice for 3 mornings but overcooked on next day and bacon in hot buffet was either so hard it could not be cut, or undercooked. Also, menus in bar and restaurant are somewhat limited in choice for a 4 star hotel. The twin bedroom was comfortable though, again, cleaning was inconsistent with towels not being replaced even though not required each day and bathroom not cleaned properly. In bedroom bin was not emptied though full, water supplied, thankfully, as weather was very hot, but only one drinking glass. We travel to Wexford frequently as we have family there and had decided to try a different location this time. Have to say that we would not necessarily be attracted back to the Ashdown Hotel.

We traveled for our wedding anniversary. We had a fantastic time. Hotel is lovely and staff are great. I felt that there general Housekeeping team let them down. Glass case needs a cleaning and the bed we had wasn't the best. But overall we really enjoyed our time there and will be back soon.

We spent the last 3 nights in this Hotel on a B&B basis.We had a lovely time.We had a few special requests which Maria the Reservation Manager assisted us with (Thank you).The girl we met when booking in on the Tuesday was very pleasent & helpful.Savanah at reception was lovely,a breath of fresh air,well done Savanah keep it up. Breakfast was lovely except for Rice Krispies a bit stale & scrambled egg dried out. Room was lovely & serviced well every day. Pool etc were of a good standard. Hotel looked lovely in the sun shine,the flowers & plants were beautiful. Well done overall.STAY COMPETITIVE.We will be back.

The reason I marked terrible is because at breakfast I went for a few bits from the "hot buffet ", well it was no more hot it was freezing, my partner said it to a member of staff, she mumbled something and went off. For the price the least you would expect it to be hot. It's not value for money

We had a great time the 4 of us 😁 the family room was outstanding our little man loved it food was lovely 🤩 the staff were great 😃 and the pool was great everyone had a ball 💯
