This is a lodge I had always wanted to stay in, so when I was planning out our Oregon trip, this was the one place I really wanted to book. I booked two nights in a lake view room. I booked it the moment the dates opened up a year in advance. We were in a top floor, corner room, which the front desk manager said was the room view they had. He was right, the view was amazing. The fact that there is a padded cubby area you can sit on right up against the window made it all the better. The bed was good (not great), the size of the room was perfect, the tub/shower was old school and cool. There is not AC in the room, and being August and actually warm the fist evening we were there, caused some concern. It was a non-issue. The windows open and are screened. We had the windows open and the room was very pleasant. The location speaks for itself, the building is amazing, the front desk was excellent, the dining tool was good for breakfast (the service there was "fine"), the porch with it's rocking chairs was wonderful and the common area with multiple fireplaces was excellent. It was not inexpensive, for sure. None of the NP Lodges are cheap and I wouldn't expect them to be. It is a treat to stay at these historic places in prime locations and I expect to pay for the location and history, if I choose to stay at one. I'd do it all over gain in a heartbeat. I loved the place.
