Our Premier Inn Whitley Bay hotel is a great destination for a family beach break - right in front of a lovely stretch golden sand that's jam-packed with things to do. We (3 couples) stayed here for two nights upon completion of Hadrian's Wall Path (booked by Hillwalk Tours). It is a short Metro ride from the eastern end of the Path at Wallsend. Lee was a tremendous host-he made reservations for our dinner at a Turkish restaurant the first night after walking over 12 miles, gave us other suggestions for our second dinner and booked our taxi to the airport. He even called early in the morning to insure the taxi would be there on time. Our rooms were excellent as was breakfast.

Couldn’t fault this boutique hotel. Hosts were very friendly. Excellent key card security system for front and inner door. A plus in today’s world. Our room was spacious, very clean throughout and comfortable. A big bonus was the fridge and microwave in the room. Breakfast was plentiful and a great selection. Something for everyone. There is a vending machine in the lounge/hall is you require a chocolate or midnight munchie fix. The only small downside is the hotel has limited parking, however thats down to the corner position of the hotel and there is plenty of parking nearby. Another bonus was breakfast was available early on the Sunday morning for anyone completing or spectating at the Great North Run. The hotel is also a 5-10 minute walk from all amenities. Firstly the hotel is undergoing major refurbishment so this needs to be taken into account. The front of the hotel was literally a building site but this was advised in advance. There are no lounge or dining areas available but this is part of the redevelopment. I only paid £45 for one night in a single room which was very basic but clean. Staff were helpful and friendly, breakfast was very good in terms of choice and quality. The location can’t be faulted, particularly if you can grab a parking space outside, otherwise there is cheap parking within 3 minutes walk. The hotel is a typical old hotel with steep narrow stairs and looks tired. The redevelopments look ambitious and I would have no hesitation in trying the Royal again if I was in the area.

Friendly staff and a nice breakfast on the morning. Close by to the play house and relish coffee shop we wanted to go to. Everything was in walking distance and easy to find. However in the room we did find used shower gels from the previous occupant, this didn't ruin our experience at all. I would stay again if ever we popped back to the play house.
