Caprice Motel - Wildwood

This will be a long review so hold on to your hat. I called Mark the "manager" for a quick 4 night stay. We did call late in the season so we were willing to take what was available. He had a Sunday/ Monday room available and a Tuesday/Wednesday available so i told him I would take both. He said to me that taking both rooms would be troublesome for the cleaning staff, don't understand why it would be trouble but so be it. I asked for a first floor room since I had knee surgery and he said that I am requesting too much and hung up on me. I have been to this hotel 7 years straight and you would think they would try to accomodate a return customer. Lets start with the good. Close to the beach, very comfortable beds. Now the bad. The grills were disgusting, We had an efficiency and the same stain was in the cabinet from one year to the next. Two years in a row they had to change my fridge because it didnt work (the second year they would not reimburse me for lost food). Lots of yelling, pot smoking, etc. The only good thing about this hotel is Javier who cleans up and takes care of the property. Mark if you read this thank you for not having a room for me in August 2021, you forced me to look for another hotel and I succeeded in finding a cleaner, nicer staffed hotel. I have read a few reviews and you as the manager are mentioned many times as being incapable of running this hotel. If your father was smart he would get rid of you before you run this hotel into the ground. you know who I am and I wont be back and hopefully my brother will be smart enough and leave your hotel also. This hotel got worse and worse each year that we were there. We tolerated the filth but I cant tolerate a bad manager.

The only reason I gave it a 1 was it’s location. If only I had read the other reviews first, but a fried recommended this place and it was a last minute plan during a soccer tournament and our normal place was fully booked and this was a sister place ran by the same people…so we though it would be safe. The place is FILTHY! Mold on the ceilings, blood on the door, the grounds are loaded with trash which is NOT picked up, the faucets are old and rusty and leak ALL night, there is 1 ac for 2 rooms and the location is in the bedroom, which means you must leave the door open at all times to cool the main room and if all that wasn’t bad the worst is what looked like a blood soaked mattress on the sofa bed! When we complained the owners son, he was more concerned that the mattress had clean sheets!?!?! NEVER AGAIN!

General manager told me if I wanted to park our 2nd car at their other hotel 8 blocks away , it would “probably” be $10 or $15, it was actually $30. As if he didn’t know? We choose to use the street meters. 1 AC in the further 2nd bedroom so the room was just bearable temp wise and only if the door was left open to the 2 nd bedroom. No shower mat in tub made it very slippery and dangerous. Pillows were useless , flat as can be and no extras available and honestly 4 pillows would not have equaled 1 home pillow. The best part was the full size refrigerator. It was across the street from the boardwalk and beach so that’s a plus. Price was probably comparable to the area fir what you get and it did serve our purpose for a place to stay while me and a friend fish but the wives told us never to invite them on our getaway to a motel like that again. I think it all depends upon what your use to and maybe your price point.

The staff, the pool, the location was fantastic. I had terrible t.v. reception.

My family comes here every year this year it seems a lot cleaner and fresher and it really is in a perfect location for us. They also have a nice pool
