Williamsburg Lodge, Autograph Collection

Booked at a discount but still about $250 per night, plus parking. Very disappointing. Room was clean but more at a Motel 6 level. No bedspread or extra blanket, uninspired b/w sketches on the walls, no "Colonial Williamsburg" ambiance, defective TV remote, cramped bathroom with no tub, carpet that appeared threadbare, and no housekeeping until 3pm. Reasonable if under a hundred a night but at the prices charged? Avoid, avoid, avoid.

I have visited CW steadily since 1967 and stayed in almost every area hotel, but mostly those under the CW Foundation. This was my first time at the Lodge, though. Impressions: Pro’s; location, location, location Incredible and friendly service, full bar, restaurants, lounge area and souvenir shop and overall good price value. Con’s; our particular room was a bit dated and needed an update. The wood floors squeak terribly. The curtains could hardly be drawn and the bathroom vanity was about 2x2 in size and tucked into a corner. That being said, the maid service was great. Because the lodge is a make up of several bldgs, it can be a bit rough to navigate at first.

No microwave in the room, refergerator and iron did not work. Called on several occassions about the iron, but no one brought. Got the microwave and frig replaced our last night there. Parking a problem with college event, but they still charged you. I feel as though for ehat you receive, the property is overpriced.

Great location. Lovely property and the staff is very accommodating. I always enjoy staying at the Williamsburg Lodge.

I think it is best to just give you a run down of the pros and cons: Pros: Location, nice lobby, indoor & outdoor heated outdoor pool was great for kids Cons: parking (not enough and inconvenient location), not well maintained, very dirty I would not recommend anyone stay here. I would much rather stay in a less desirable location that was clean and updated.

A disaster from the beginning. We were ignored at check-in while the clerk chit chatted for 20 minutes with someone who was not even staying at the hotel! No parking available. (Even though you pay for it) Mattress was too small for the bed frame. TV did not work In room coffee maker dirty. Funny smell in hallways. Three day stay - room not serviced at all - no trash taken, you have to ask for clean towels It IS convenient to the historic area. We have stayed in the past (10+ years ago), but will never stay there again.

I will start by saying that the Williamsburg Lodge is a fantastic location but the hotel itself is a disappointment. This is hotel is not Autograph level quality. 1. Don’t expect a decent suite upgrade here (if you have suite upgrades as a platinum or titanium elite member). The suite they originally gave us was a standard hotel room that smelled musty with two queen beds. With some negotiation we were able to get a slight upgrade but not what I would consider a suite. That said, the manager at the front desk wasn’t very friendly and acted like she was doing us a favor when actually updating us to the so called suite with OUR suite night awards. I’d rather them just decline our suite nite awards all together than waste them on a regular hotel room. 2. It needs to be cleaned better and updated. It is very run down. The bathroom in our first room, still had someone’s used bar of soap in the shower and the floors were very dirty. The second room was better but the floors were still not very clean and someone’s used eyelash was found on the bathroom floor. 3. The pool is across the street. It was cold and rainy during our stay but if you want to use the pool and spa, you have to walk outside across the street. There is no connecting walkway. The website also says the outdoor pools are heated and they do not say seasonal. The outside pools had steam coming off of them but they were closed. They should update the website to represent an accurate description. 4. There was no place in the hotel the first day we were there to buy water or snacks as the grab n go closed like 4 hours earlier than it was supposed to! I will give a shout out to a member of the maintenance/house keeping team. Harold was the best and did his very best to make our stay comfortable!
