Hotel du Pont Wilmington Delaware

Service at this hotel could be better.

We’ve enjoyed previous stays at the Hotel Du Pont but this was not the case with our last visit. The hotel is a grand and elegant throwback to the turn of the last century. But the service was lacking. We were greeted with a distinct lack of hospitality. The room was spacious but the shower had not been cleaned. Returning from dinner there was no valet present to park the car. Waited around and finally located an employee who said he would address this but he then disappeared. The dining room Is a lovely venue for breakfast and the server was attentive, but the food was cold, positions were small and/or items were missing, Checked out without closing out the account because the breakfast tab hadn’t been posted, were told we would be emailed the bill but that didn’t occur. Required a call to an employee who made it feel as if she was doing us a favor to email it. We did not feel welcome at this hotel.

Gone downhill. So many issues I can’t fit in this space, Broken phone in room, sink clogged, food served without salt/pepper etc on tray, 40 minutes to get coffee (none in lobby for grab and go), tv did not work in rain, no one a desk for check out.

Always a wonderful experience. Been staying here for 30 years. Never had a complaint. La Cavalier was exceptional. Highly recommend.

Everything was gold

I had only been to the Hotel DuPont for events before. This is the first time we stayed over and it was a great experience!

The wedding weekend was amazing from start to finish. This is a beautiful venue and they really know how to throw a wedding. It was great to check in on Friday and check out on Sunday from the welcome party to getting ready ceremony the reception after party brunch. Everything is taken care of from start to finish.

Wow, I was blown away by my stay at HOTEL DU PONT and dinner at Le Cavalier. Your staff was not only highly professional but warm and welcoming at the same time. Brian was an incredible and attentive server and Molly at the Green Room Bar was impressively knowledgeable about her bourbon list (and makes a mean Old Fashioned). I cannot begin to thank you again for welcoming me into the world and legacy of HOTEL DU PONT and Le Cavalier at the Green Room. Thank you again for your incredible hospitality.
