Staff was welcoming upon arrival and gave us a brief tour of the inn. It has the charm and elegance of an old inn. Will definitely return for another visit.

We happened upon this place in our online search for a place to stay in southern Vermont. We were traveling on motorcycles and wanted something charming. We were blown away with the beauty of this inn! Our room was beautiful what nice views of the mountains. The whole building was gorgeous with such historic charm. We never would have guessed we would find something like this in Wilmington. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area!

The place is beautiful and the rooms comfortable. But if you are hoping for service apart from the courtesy of staying in your room, you will be disappointed. They are catering to people who are coming to the restaurant and the vast majority of those people are not staying at the inn. If you are a guest at the inn, know that there are no reserved places at the restaurant for guests as is customary for inns with an on-site restaurant. More unusually for restaurants in general, this restaurant neither has a wait list for impromptu eating nor will let you eat at the bar. You are on your own and they will not let you eat if you don’t have a reservation. We experienced this firsthand.
Again, the inn itself is nice, but they are more interested in serving people who visit the restaurant. Paying guests who want to enjoy the amenities are a secondary concern. Visiting this area in the future, we will stay at one of the inns in town where there are also restaurants off site. The inn is only large to ensure it can service non-guest restaurant visitors.

Beautiful and charming property, nice continental breakfast, friendly, helpful staff. The only problem was the abnormally noisy heating baseboard system in room 11 kept us up all night, we didn’t complain to the staff as we were only there for 1 night. Will stay again and request a different room.

My family stayed at the WHI over President's week. The house was beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves in front of the beautiful fireplace in the common area one evening and in front of the fireplace in our suite the second night. There were three of us on the trip and the junior suite was perfect. We put our 11 y/o son on the fold out couch and he thought it was great to have his own area.
