Hotel Ballast Wilmington, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

We always love staying there. Ask for a river front room.

The hotel was located pretty close to everything which was nice. When we went in the room it smelt odd and the AC was not working.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ballast very much. It is located within walking distance of many things to do, see, and eat. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and that was comforting. The bathroom, while clean, has a few unique characteristics. The sink has very little room between the faucet and sink bottom. The commode is extremely low to the ground. We found it quite odd. We would stay again requesting a water view room.

I booked for some alone time for my birthday and it was very much well spent, hotel is very nice the staff was very welcoming. I will be staying again absolutely love this hotel

Hotel staffs were very friendly and accommodating. Bathroom floor grout was all black. Bathroom sink was missing the stopper which was reported but nothing was done about it. Hotel rooms are outdated.

Great location! Convenient for walking along the riverfront and to the plethora of surrounding places in downtown Wilmington. The hotel was obviously renovated. However, it was still very dated in a lot of ways. There was an “old” smell that hit you as soon as you walk in your room. It also was not the cleanest hotel that I’ve stayed at. The baseboards were filthy, there was a stain on one of our pillows, I had to kill a bug in the bathroom on our first night, and then I heard scratching in the walls (like a mouse) the second night. There were two of us there, but every day the housekeeping would only leave us one bath cloth. So, I had to continuously call down to the front desk to request a second one. I would definitely return to this general area to stay again, but not at this hotel.

Property did not feel clean. Way over priced for the condition/cleanliness of the hotel. Would not recommend this hotel.

First a few years ago well visiting Wilmington, we decided to spend the weekend. Stepping into the ballast because it looked like a nice building and great location. I'm walking in the first person we met at guest services was rude and unwelcoming. This was in 2021. Since that happened, we began staying at the aloft down the street. Last weekend we decided to give it another try and booked a room online at the ballast. When we got into the room, it appeared nice at first. Got settled, and tried to cool the room off but air conditioner was not working properly. It would not cool the room. It rained it was humid in the room. The bath hooks in the bathroom were hanging out of the walls and the commode was loose from the floor. There was mold in the shower I expected a lot more from a Hilton hotel. Throughout the weekend, I was receive text messages, asking about our stay, and I brought up the issues, nothing was addressed. At check out, we went downstairs to return the keys and it was brought to our attention. We had to pay for handicap parking in a parking lot that does not secure or is responsible for your valuables, and handicap is very very far distance from check-in. Being from South Carolina, having a handicap placard you can park anywhere and not get charged. I think it is ridiculous to be charged $20 a day for handicap parking that is in accessible to everything. Needless to say, we will not be recommending this hotel anytime soon
