Days Inn by Wyndham Sutton Scotney South

The room was clean and the hotel easy to get to, and the staff friendly and approachable, a great choice for visiting nearby Winchester. It was quiet and peaceful and we weren't disturbed by other guests. The shower was strong and hot and it was nice to have the toiletries. The WiFi was strong. Our only complaint was that the bed was hard and we both had backaches in the morning but these quickly went. Also there were some cobwebs at the top of the room, luckily no spiders, but could do with a hoover up there!

I booked at the last minute whilst working in Winchester so wasn’t expecting much for the money so was really happy it exceeded all my expectations. I had a super quiet room, overlooking the garden, which was pretty huge in comparison to other places I’ve stayed. Definitely my new favourite place to stay when I’m next there.

Hotels nice and clean…food is ok but not brilliant. The thing that makes this hotel is the staff. They are friendly helpful and go the extra mile. The chap with the beard and painted nails was very helpful and always pleasant. I stayed on business for several weeks and would bring my family here…the service is ace and the bedrooms are large with very comfortable beds 👍 Winchester is a lovely city
Marwell Hotel - A Bespoke Hotel

Really disappointed with how run down and grotty a lot of places in this hotel looks. Not really a pleasant environment but has so much potential to be excellent if it was looked after better. At a glance it looks nice, reception and lounge are welcoming, the hotel has a unique layout but after spending a couple of days there it just doesn’t look very well looked after overall. Doesn’t look like there’s been any landscaping or window cleaning done in a long time but that’s not the end of the world. But the impression you get in the bedroom is one of a bit old and dingy. Marks, cracks and paint coming off the walls, old faded carpet that had stains on it. Carpet didn’t look hoovered either. Had to move a bedside table to get to the plug and wish I hadn’t as it was so dirty and dusty behind it. The bed felt comfy enough at first, but woke with horrendous back ache, especially the 2nd night and struggled with sleeping. The TV remote didn’t work, and there’s no thermostat for temperature control. The bathroom was clean enough but the toilet seat wasn’t very stable! And the shower was absolutely useless, zero power to it….. had to take it out the older toilet actually get any water on me, and if you turned it as you tried to rinse then it lost even more power. The dining room was ok, but many of the chairs had bits of food on them and some had stains on as well. Breakfast was good, standard cooked items available, plus basic pastry or cereal options. Tea or filter coffee and 2 fresh juices on offer. Dinner was quite disappointing in terms of choice, very basic and small menu. Had the pizza and I didn’t get the feeling it was freshly made (not the base anyway). Swimming pool was a nice option, heated as well. Only small though so I’d imagine if there was a few people wanting to use it then it could get quite cramped. Sauna at the side, but didn’t use it so can’t comment. The public changing rooms and toilets sort of followed suit with everything else, just looking a bit dingy looking like it’s been installed in the 80’s. I’m not a high standards kind of person, and would overlook a few of these things in isolation, but I think the combination of everything just left me feeling disappointed. It did its job as a base for me and my family travelling from up north to visit Peppa Pig World which is 30mins away. And Marwell Zoo is literally on site so location wise it’s pretty good for some attractions. To be fair, someone could have a totally different experience if they had a different room that was in better condition, but we just felt uncomfortable. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant and attentive.

Pretty basic no frills hotel but quiet and clean with a good comfortable bed and well equipped shower room. Rooms are a good size. Easy to find. Good parking. Polite and helpful staff.

The location is perfect and walking distance to main sites. The Japanese restaurant is also wonderful. The room is clean and spacious. However, data access and wifi is limited. Overall it was a very wonderful experience staying at Kyoto room
