Goswell House

There is no front desk, and the location navigation is not particularly easy to find, but it is very clean。

Great place right in the centre, friendly service, would recommend to everyone

Goswell House is a great central location for the castle, high street and restaurants. Everything is a couple of mins walk away. On arrival, I rang the doorbell and did have to wait a little while for someone to come and check me in. I think there must have only been one member of staff working at any one time. Lovely entrance hall with character. Our twin room (which I was sharing with a friend) was lovely - spacious and really comfy beds. Bottled water provided on arrival (as shown in photo). There was a stain on the duvet cover (but this was duly sorted when I rang reception) and we couldn't work out how to open the windows. We both slept comfortably for the two nights we were there - very quiet - could not hear any noise either from outside or from other rooms. In fact, we only saw one other group during our entire stay. I think what lets Goswell House down is its breakfast. Yes - it is advertised as self-service - so we expected that. Breakfast is served between 8-10am in a room with many two seater tables. There was a selection of cereals including instant oats. There were also some croissants and sliced bread. There was a microwave and toaster available for use, along with some yoghurts, fruit, juice and milk in the fridge. Paying around £6 each for breakfast each day, I think more variety would be expected. Also it was not clear if we had to wash up our own dishes - there was a washing up sponge and liquid - but we decided just to put our dishes in the dishwasher. I think breakfast would be enhanced if there was a member of staff around, clearing plates etc. A change here would really elevate Goswell House up to the expectations of a hotel seeing as that is what they market themselves as. So overall: Pros: comfy bed, good-sized room, quiet, good location Cons: lack of staff presence, self-service breakfast, not a 'hotel' feel.

Great room, great area, will book again First class

We had a 1 night stay as a family of 4. The room was one of the best family rooms I’ve stayed in - very spacious, all the beds (including travel cot!) were comfy. Nice spacious bathroom. We heard no noise at all yet our room overlooked the main shopping street, so ignore old reviews complaining of noise as their new double glazing clearly has done the job. There are lots of parking options nearby and given the fantastic location of the hotel/B&B we didn’t mind not having on site parking. So many restaurant options and literally a few minutes walk to the castle. I’ve rated it 4/5 rather than 5/5 as the breakfast wasn’t great and didn’t have a lot of the options that were advertised (no crumpets or bagels) and the croissants tasted stale. Ideally the room would have had a small fridge. Overall great value for money though

Great location and the family rooms are very large

It’s in the perfect location right next to shopping and Windsor Castle. Restaurants right nearby. It’s in an older building and doesn’t have a lobby per se, but staff is very friendly and helpful in terms of checking in to the rooms. Breakfast room was closed during our stay but was easy to find food before hopping the train back to London. We were moved to a room on an upper floor so that we would not be inconvenienced by noise from the street and nightclub down below on a Friday night, which we appreciate it Trish
