From the moment you pull up you know this place is special. The building, the garden and the staff ooze class. The surroundings, inside and out, are spectacular. Take a moment to read about its history to truly appreciate the hotel and just how special it is. Also take a tour of the gardens and maybe sit a while to soak up the atmosphere. Our bedroom was huge, beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The restaurant and bars serve top quality and dinner on site is a must. We only stayed one night and that actually made us sad as this hotel could keep you comfortable for a much longer stay.

Beautiful, historic hotel but the grounds are not up to par. It probably is because the time of year (Feb) and the high winds.

Beautiful hotel. Just amazing. You could spend hours wandering about the hotel itself and grounds. So much history. And our room (deluxe king) was a delight…certainly exceeded expectations and was such a welcome change from the typical motel/hotel room we are accustomed to staying in. We ate breakfast (not complimentary) and dinner in the hotel restaurant and were pleased with both. I could go on but a stay here is more an experience, a unique experience. Highly recommended.

I felt transported to another time. What an incredible project with stellar results. The gardens are amazing, the building is extraordinary, the people/staff were all so friendly, I just can’t pile enough praise for the La Posada. I’m a huge fan of Mary Colter (architect), so that was the primary purpose of our visit. I’m so glad we got a room and we were able to enjoy the restaurant and stroll the surroundings. The birds were chirping, water trickling in the fountains and water features, and the pace of another time. We enjoyed seeing all the train activity, it’s sort of a novelty to us. The person manning the front desk was particularly helpful - I wish I had jotted his name down. I had mistakenly made our reservation for a week later than when we arrived. He found a room that had just been cancelled! Thank you.

Historic hotel on Route 66 just a block from “the corner”. Stayed two nights on a trip through Arizona and New Mexico, mainly to see the flat-bed Ford. The hotel is certainly well restored and probably close to its former glory. Well decorated and good furnishings. However, make sure you get a room on the 1st floor if you don’t want to carry your bags. No elevator and nobody to give you any assistance with your luggage. Pretty poor considering the price of rooms here. You can borrow one of their luggage carts and that’s a good idea since it’s a long way to the parking lot. Trains pass by all day and night but we did not find that to be a big problem. Our room was at the end of the hotel not overlooking the tracks. If watching trains is your thing then there is a sitting area in the rear garden. In fact there are a number of garden area around the hotel with many places to sit and take your morning coffee. Downside, and really a big negative for a a hotel of this caliber was the dozen of more laundry baskets outside our bedroom door in the morning. You even had to move some aside to get past. Not sure I really want to move dirty laundry around at 8 in the morning. Other big negative was the restaurant that I shall comment on separately.

A beautifully decorated historic hotel - a lovely environment to sit and wander. Not particularly welcoming & everything very overpriced. We stayed for 2 nights in the Mary Coulter Room with a balcony which was lovely to sit on and watch the great variety of bird life in the Cotton Wood trees. We slept well both nights despite the train running all night. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly with previous guest hairs pasted to the wall at the back of the tub. The mirror in the bathroom needs lowering as it is above my line of sight. Coffee provided in the lobby 5.00am to 11.00am. The restaurant - Tourquoise room is run seperately to the hotel and offers very slow service. Food good. Definitely worth a visit to the attached Affeldt Mion Museum.

This was our third stay at La Posada. Each time we discover things we hadn’t seen before. This is a remarkable place saved from destruction and restored so guests can experience its history and charm. We had a very good dinner and enjoyed listening to the guitarist after. The huevos rancheros for breakfast—outstanding. If you want your hotel to be memorable and not just a place to sleep stay at La Posada.
