The last time we were in Winton we stayed in the newer section - or so we thought - at this Motel and spurned what we thought were dongas. But this time what a revelation they turned out to be. They do require three steep steps to access but, once inside, you'll appreciate how the grey corrugated iron exterior gives way to neutral tones inside. We had a Queen and Two Singles in our room ($135.00 per night), the 'fridge was large, there was a very long bench, a jacuzzi-like walk-in shower tub and the usual amenities, including a table and two chairs on the ground outside. The guest laundry washing machine is free but the gas-fed dryer requires a $1.00 coin every 10 minutes. [A note of caution: the dryer window does not fully seal, so it's advisable to lean against the handle to ensure none of that costly heat escapes]. The room was very clean and the outside noise practically non-existent, ensuring a very comfortable sleep for the three nights of our stay.
