Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa

Booked vegan afternoon tea and it was so disappointing. The 4 finger sandwiches were mainly salad and no filling, the bread was soggy due to the amount of chutney. No thought as to what a vegan sandwich contains had been given. It felt as if it was a token effort. Cakes dry and crumbly and no vegan cream for scones. Not worth the £32.50 pp. poor effort for a 4 star hotel.

Stayed for 1 night as a spa break used the spa which was really nice Sat outside the lawns bar which was lovely especially the life acoustic music and log fire staff in the bar were very helpful. Hotel slightly let down by the rooms altho clean. On first impression old carpets which were poor fitting and shabby and peeling paint on the wall.

Me & my best friend came for an overnight stay/ spa day for her birthday and had the best time! We felt so welcome at check in and were told about the facilities, what was included, where to go & given a drinks voucher which was a nice touch. Didn’t get names but the all the receptionists we spoke to were lovely. I had added on the ‘birthday package’ for my friend and it was amazing. There was balloons, a candle shaped towel and a chocolate happy birthday plate which was a nice surprise. The beds were so comfortable and the room was really big/ clean, and had lots of lovely extras like hot chocolate pods, soaps, skincare and a big TV with Netflix on. The spa was amazing, again all the staff were so friendly & helpful and we felt really comfortable, they also explained the locker system which worked really well. We especially loved the outdoor hot tubs and sun loungers, as well as being able to order drinks outside to be put on the room bill. Again, waiting on staff in the spa/ brasserie area were very friendly and efficient. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel, however we would next time as breakfast was delicious. It was a mix of table service & buffet style. We had a cappuccino/ latte, this was £2 extra but they were really nice! The ladies who served us were very friendly and happy to help, sorry I didn’t get names. In the buffet there was hot food (full English breakfast), pastries, cold meats/ cheese, yoghurt/ compote, fresh fruit, toast and juices. It was all so fresh, even at 9:30am, towards the end of breakfast service. We had an amazing time and will be back! Thanks so much:)

This was our first time at this fantastic hotel, but definitely will not be our last! Staff were exceptional, friendly & most helpful. The room was really clean & comfortable & pool/spa facilities great. We had only booked for one night with breakfast, which was lovely, but will book for dinner next time too 😃 Highly recommend this lovely place & can't wait to come back 👍👍👍

Stayed here with some friends. Had to ask for pillows as the bed didn't have any. Bed was covered in blood stains. Staff where less than helpful, one member of staff actually said "the hotel is in a bad place and that they have been advising everyone not to bother coming back"

What a great night! An evening of mediumship. There was a fabulous atmosphere, friendly staff, and all served with a fish & chip supper. We thoroughly enjoyed the event and will definitely be back. Good value for money. The room looked beautiful. Can't ask for more!

Our intimate wedding at Thornton Hall was worth every penny! I knew I wanted to get married in the pagoda with a harpist and that’s exactly what we did! Every detail was catered for which made wedding planning effortless. Exceptional service and food, lovely grounds for excellent wedding photographs and the hotel staff seem to go the extra mile with a smile! Thank you Thornton Hall team, you helped make the day so special.
