Booked a 2 night stay for a birthday through trip.com…called hotel direct too inform them of our stay & asked if we needed to book restaurant for evening meals but told no we can do that when we arrive, booked a treatment for myself & hubby…upon arrival we were told restaurant was only available for the 1st evening of our stay & breakfast is available at an extra fee… The food was terrible…Evening meal was a Sirloin, handful of chips & salad leaves at a price of £23, no onion rings or mushrooms etc etc offered with this meal & the steak over cooked, breakfast was worse, bacon chewy, scrambled egg watery, no baked beans & to top it off they charge £10 for full English or £6 for continental, in my opinion & previous stays at other hotels breakfast is complimentary with the room or if a extra fee is asked at least you can get continental & cooked breakfast, I literally paid £10 for bacon,sausage,hash brown, scrambled egg & mushrooms which was all over cooked… The room was a bit tired with décor & bathroom had no ventilation so after shower became very steamy so you couldn’t see well in the bathroom itself… Phone call on the morning of my 2nd day to be told that due to staff sickness they had to cancel our spa treatments…due to being a birthday treat this is the only reason we stayed at the hotel so we could use spa facilities & have a special day… Some staff were pleasant but others came across a bit rude, maybe due too staff shortages so therefore a bit tired but the industry you work in requires a smile & politeness at all times… Overall my stay was not a pleasant one resulting in us leaving shortly after breakfast & not wanting to stay another night…currently waiting to hear about a refund for the night we didn’t stay☹️☹️☹️

This is our 2nd visit within 2 months this time we stayed in a deluxe room overlooking the golf course it was lovely We went for lunch in the clubhouse it was gorgeous, then we used the spa facilities we had the one night stay, 3 course evening meal and Breakfast I booked direct with the hotel and we had 2 vouchers for complimentary drinks on arrival all the staff are very friendly/helpful I would highly recommend this place The only few things that could do with abit of improving is the evening meal was very slow service, I put that down to lack of staff as the 2 girls were rushing around I felt sorry for them as quite a few people moaning re: waiting times/food Our 3 course meal was lovely and we weren’t in no rush so just had a few drinks The only other thing was I found the swimming cold (but I do like a nice heated pool) I would 100% return as only live 30 minutes away and this place is so relaxing 😊

2nd stay at hotel for business, really like the hotel and the room , food in bar is ok and staff are friendly although the restaurant meals, breakfast and dinner are not great Will definetly stay again but may look to eat elsewhere in the evening

Nice hotel but needs to pay attention to detail. If you want to use the EV chargers a charger lead is needed along with downloading an app. A plug and pay system would be much better. The room was very comfortable. We had to go back to reception to change the entry cards as the original ones had not been coded correctly. The bar/restaurant was OK but rather lacked atmosphere. Whilst we were eating people dressed in vests and shorts were continually walking through the area to get to/from the spa. The food was very disappointing. The menu made a big thing about the Scottish butcher who supplied the steak, unfortunately mine was so tough I could not eat it. A fellow diner had exactly the same problem with his. The soup was rather insipid and the desert was probably past its best by date. The food from the very attractive breakfast menu displayed on the tables was not available until 10 am. The included breakfast was self serve from a hot buffet. My wife wanted the avocado on toast but we were told that it was not available until after 10 am. The pepper mill on our table was empty, no table napkins were provided with the breakfast. It is a great shame because a few issues kept cropping up during our stay. Management should look at simple things such as the cleaners blocking the corridor with trollies and equipment making it difficult for us to pass or staff standing around the bar area drinking coffee. On balance we probably would not stay at this hotel again.

Although a little out the way , the hotel was comfortable and affordable. A little disappointed that we couldn’t use the spa treatments. I would strongly advise booking well before trip. We also had trouble trying to get a taxi , and was told that it would cost around £20 each way. If you want to visit Exeter or Exmouth I would suggest staying closer to town.

Nice hotel, great pool and health suite! Gluten free options available in the restaurant, had a gluten free burger and this fish cake! Sky sports for the football in the bar area.WiFi is good for working, good stay. Lovely grounds at the hotel
