Woodlands Lodge Hotel

Friendly staff, beautiful cooking, nice spacious room, great location. This is my second stay - first time we were in one of the top floor rooms which was very quiet, this time we were on the middle floor and there was a lot of noise from people moving/running about above us (ie old building and floors/ceilings not very well sound-proofed). Also, on both occasions, we've had very wobbly double bed mattresses - it's impossible for one person to shift position in bed without the other feeling an earthquake.

The location was beautiful. Being able to walk from the garden into the New Forest was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room (10) was very good, enjoyed having both shower and bath, a balcony and seating area and the views of the room was loving over looking the garden. The food was enjoyable. We would definitely return.

Really friendly and welcoming, especially to our 3 dogs , we had a lovely rest and recharge, with great food. Such a lovely spot, walks straight from the garden on the forest and a place to wash the dogs down before going back inside. Would thoroughly recommend and we will be back.

Rooms 12 & 14 A wonderful stay. The service and efficiency of all the staff, in particular the Fantastic Fiona was flawless. From the moment of arrival to departure the customer service was superb. Everyone was professional and friendly. All special requests were fulfilled. The hotel was clean and well decorated. Congratulations to the kitchen team for superb food and to the front of house team dealing with many questions and requests re diets and choices! • The heating in Room 12 was a bit hit and miss. In fact, both rooms felt chilly on arrival. Fan heaters were in the rooms. Although there is a bit of an issue with the radiators and heating in Room 12. • Rooms being at the top of an old building the pumping/power of water can be erratic. The pump system in Room 12 was noisy. It would have been good to have mentioned this when booking just so that guests are aware. You can hear it next door in Room 14 but it is not too intrusive. • Room 14 had a lovely bath but the shower was quirky! Lacking in power but water plentiful and hot. A bath mat may be useful. • The towels were lovely and clean, the bed comfortable. • The idea of only having rooms serviced when required is a good idea, especially for short stays.

This was our fourth visit to Woodlands Lodge and it was as charming as ever. Our Four-Poster Room was spacious and well-appointed and we were very comfortable. The Cattlegrid Restaurant provided delicious well-presented food, served by delightful staff. We love the fact that you can walk from the paddock straight out on to the Forest and we had some lovely but wet walks, seeing ponies and deer and spring flowers. Overall, we had a lovely stay and we thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Enjoyable stay once again. Rooms are clean and well appointed with all you need. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and very peaceful. It is away from the busy towns, but in easy driving distance of the attractions of the New Forest. We look forward to staying again in the future.
