Woodstock Inn & Resort

Simply gorgeous - and expensive - large, old but in pristine massive state, deluxe hotel in quaint old New England town. We went only for a nice one nite stay with a superb meal. And we got both. For a sizeable bill, but worth it. The meal at the hotel restaurant was five star.

Lovely historic beautiful property- look forward to enjoy the town and spa tomorrow.

The Woodstock Inn is absolutely gorgeous and is in the perfect location; it's within walking distance of the village and the property is both expansive and beautiful. The majority of the staff were pleasant and friendly, and the bed was comfortable. It's pretty pricey for what you receive, however, and we were disappointed in the Red Rooster (one of the on-site restaurants). We've had expensive meals before but THREE scallops for $40? With another $10 for rolls and no salad, etc.? That sort of soured us on the resort. If we return to Woostock we'll opt for a B&B. If you are looking for luxury this is the place to go, though.

Imagine having a wonderful night out with your partner and after a long day of traveling and a delicious dinner (at The Red Rooster) you return to your room and get ready for bed. You turn out the lights, put your head on the pillow and think you feel a bug on your face. You swat it away and feel it again. You reach over, turn the light on, and notice a bunch of little bugs circling the lamp. Then you look up at the ceiling and see the room is infested with them. Hundreds and hundreds of no-see-ums. We jump up from bed and see they are everywhere. On the lamps, on the walls, on the cieling, on the bed! I call the front desk and tell them we have a serious bug problem. We then have to pack up all our belongings and moments later a porter takes us to a new room on the ground floor, across the hall from a family with a crying toddler. Management doesn't bother to call or check in and see if the room is ok. Or it we're ok. Nothing. Not a word. I angrily walk to the front desk to talk to someone and I get a perfunctory apology from the manager. Then some woman from guest services joins the conversation and says to me, eyes closed with a patronizing smile, "It's Vermont". As in, It's the "country", what do you expect? And that was it. We never heard another word from the hotel. Complete and total indifference. So, if you're looking to have a nice night out and then retire to a room crawling with blood-sucking insects, the Woodstock Inn & Resort is your place. It's Vermont, silly! Note: I would have given this place 1 star were it not for the concierge and restaurant staff, all of whom were exceptional.

A gracious, old fashioned beautifully run New England inn. We made reservations at the last minute, and lucky us! Our room on the second floor overlooked the street, was shady and the windows let the breeze in all evening and night. The King bed was sumptuous, with luxurious linens and the softest pillow I've ever laid my head upon. Dinner in the bar was great, too. It came quickly and was excellent, and because we weren't doing "fancy" that night, we appreciated being able to simply sit and chat with each other and the bartender and enjoy a casual meal without having to leave our hotel. I do wish they included breakfast. That would have been nice.

We had a terrific experience at the Inn. I was there for a board meeting which I attended with my wife. Everything was excellent about the experience from the staff, to the accomodations to the food (Risotto was as good as I have had in a long time). My only regret is that we did not have time to take advantage of all the Inn has to offer. I did leave a small item behind when we left and called the Inn when I got home to see if they found it. They had and agreed to send it to me the same day - no charge. This underscores what you can expect from the staff and the hotel's management of the venue.

The moment I stepped through the doors, I immediately felt a cozy, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Everyone was easy going and genuinely friendly. The whole town feels like that. If you need a time out, far away from the worldly troubles, this is the place to go. Head on over to the SPA which is absolutely fabulous!

They hotel was wonderful.. not much to do in the area!
