disco party! Bathroom without heating!

The restaurant and reception look good, but the rooms are very outdated. I understand why there are no photos of the rooms on the website. What is immediately noticeable is the entrance to the rooms via a steep staircase that had not been vacuumed for some time. We had reserved a so-called comfort room. This had 2 single beds that were otherwise clean and good. The bathroom was very outdated with broken tiles and the remains of a removed radiator covered with paper. The water was nice and warm and it was also clean. The room had air conditioning that also provided heat. Even at 30 degrees the room could not be heated. The light switches at the entrance to the room did not work, so the 8 ceiling spotlights did not work either. The only lighting consisted of 2 lamps next to the bed and a desk lamp. The sockets on one side next to the bed did not work. In addition to a desk and 2 chairs, there was a kind of kitchen counter with a refrigerator and a cupboard with clothes hangers and extra pillows. The sliding doors give access to a terrace. In the evening, a spotlight from the parking lot shines almost straight into the room. Fortunately, the curtains are light-tight. The breakfast was sufficient.

We had planned a duck tour with the family on 2/4 and would have lunch at Hotel Schimmel halfway through our tour. We had contact in advance by email and made good agreements about when, at what time and with how many people we would come for lunch. Because the duck company had not recorded our booking, the tour was canceled and we arrived at the hotel far too early. It was no problem for the hotel and we started with a drink and then had lunch. Good lunch and friendly service. Everything was well taken care of and definitely recommended.

Due to a reunion and the distance we had to travel, we decided to book a hotel in the immediate vicinity of the place where the reunion would take place. Our choice fell on Hotel Schimmel in Woudenberg, beautifully centrally located. We were kindly received. Our first impression was positive. Indeed, the bathroom was a bit dated, but that also has its charm. The room itself had been renovated and looked fine. Beds and bedding fantastic! Funny the kitchenette in the corner. With kettle, glasses, 2 plates and 2 cups and some cutlery. Apparently, hotel guests who want to make something themselves are taken into account. Woke up rested. A really wonderful bed! Down for breakfast. That was a bit of a puzzle, the elevator did not come and it turned out that there was some kind of meeting in the room where the elevator ends. So we had to go outside and back in through the main entrance. Humour! Breakfast was ready for us. Fresh rolls were brought and we had a great seat in the bistro. Nice breakfast. It was a great stay for us. Yes, in some places you can still clearly see that this is an old hotel, but renovations are underway and there is some delay due to corona. The most important thing for us is always that we have a good, clean room and clean bedding and that the bathroom is also clean. And that was certainly the case in this hotel. The staff was also very friendly! We will definitely come back, if only to further explore the area by bike,

We slept 1 night in a comfort room due to family circumstances. The room was terribly cold. The air conditioning had insufficient power to heat the room, all the heat rose in the pointed roof. The duvets were very thin and there were no blankets. The shower water was lukewarm. Socket next to the bed was defective. Decor very dated and many cracks in the tiles and walls. Beds were comfortable, staff was friendly and breakfast was quite ok. But all in all, not recommended.

Very pleasant experience in a quiet environment, especially the parking side of the building. The restaurant and the dishes are too oriental for my taste without this being stated. Fried prawns etc. Not really my taste. And....an abundance of annoying flies.
