A senior couple, we tend to look for short stays on a Sunday evening, which we all know will give you the best rates. We were delighted with the room we received which was the 'Hickling Suite' with a lovely balcony overlooking the river adjacent to the bridge. The room was superbly appointed, and immaculate. Although in truth I have confidentally given 5 stars, it must be acknowlegdged that the actual decor and fittings are dated, but very well kept. The beds are super, and the bathroom facilities fine. Staff were lovely and the food offerings excellent, if a trifle expensive, but it is an Hotel, and the seasons must be short. As seniors, staff were happy to carry our luggage up the rather steep stairs, as there is no lift. A super Hotel, and one we would certainly recommend.
