Fantastic little Inn. Stayed for one night between Lake District activities at honister and buttermere. Around a 30 minute drive from both. Across the road from bassenthwaite lake which was perfect to cool down in after an active day.
We stayed in room 25 which was delightful! Perfect for a family of four. Lovely little communal garden with a picnic bench. Easy parking. Staff lovely, and food was great! Will definitely return!

This certainly was a very good clean guest house food and drink of excellent the grounds in and around were stunning Michelle was a great host and all staff were fantastic room was beey clean bed so comfy shower was powerful overall a great place to stay

Rooms are very small and overpriced. Was loud banging above our room from 5am causing no sleep. Service in restaurant pretty bad - no table service - staff are wandering around and will refuse to take a table order which I do not understand in a place like this. Food was averag but £20 for pie and chips - come on..

Management urgently need to review staff customer service skills …. Called in for a drink whilst visiting the area … pub wasn’t busy but the only member of staff behind the bar was making coffees for diners … other staff who weren’t serving tables (very few occupied) appeared to be running round organising boxes of crisps (or other such critical customer-affecting activities!). It was clear there was a queue forming at the bar but no one thought to divert crisp-sorting staff to dealing with customers. After being served by the young man who came to us as soon as he’d done the coffees who was very nice, we ordered a snack too but the waitress who brought out snack order was abrupt and when I asked for condiments told me to go find them in the next room with some parting comment about being busy! A huge gap in customer service skills in the staff here (young chap excepted) which management really need to address.

Stunning location and building with a real traditional charm and warmth that you can’t just recreate Great service great food great room…just nice people doing what they enjoy, you can tell when u pull up Definitely go back again very soon I hope

Everything about this establishment is of a high standard from the grounds to bar. Food is of a particular high quality for a pub. The rooms are really well finished and fitted out. Staff are pleasant and professional. Would strongly recommend.

Stayed 2 nights at this lovely cosy pub in a wonderful part of our Lake District. Staff very welcoming and helpful and work really hard to make everything pleasant for everyone. Beautifully kept gardens and lots of outdoor seating, ..excellent location for exploring and hiking and fabulous walks nearby. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. We will definitely return and recommend to family and friends. Thankyou .
