Exceeded all expectations! We stayed in a three-bedroom suite, which was clean, tidy, and incredibly quiet. First off, its location on the island was very convenient, and there was a shuttle bus service. The service was excellent; because a friend was injured and had difficulty moving, we ended up catching the very last ferry to the island, and the hotel driver waited for us the whole time. The hotel felt like a little garden and even houses a marriage registration office. The staff were all very warm and thoughtful, making us feel right at home! They were also very kind to children, preparing small gifts for them. Upon check-out, they even prepared local specialty pastries. The entire experience was incredibly comfortable.

My recent stay at the Kulangsi Resort in Xiamen was nothing short of exceptional. Standout Service from 小陈 (Xiao Chen): While every staff member we encountered was professional and friendly, one individual truly made our stay unforgettable: a gentleman named 小陈 (Xiao Chen). His service was, without exaggeration, world-class. He was incredibly thoughtful and anticipatory, always seeming to know what we needed before we even asked. From offering insightful local tips to ensuring every small detail of our room was perfect, his attention to care was remarkable. He embodies the true spirit of hospitality and is a tremendous asset to the Kulangsi Resort. Verdict: I wholeheartedly recommend the Kulangsi Resort. The beautiful environment and excellent facilities provide the perfect backdrop, but it's the outstanding service from people like Xiao Chen that transforms a great stay into a truly memorable one. The hotel offers a shuttle service, and my room was a very comfortable suite. They provided plenty of bottled water. The staff were all very enthusiastic and their service was excellent. On my departure day, I didn't have time for breakfast, so the restaurant staff even packed it up and delivered it to my room (huge kudos to them!)

The room was clean and the hotel environment was great. The service, in particular, was exceptional. The front desk staff upgraded my room, provided breakfast, and even arranged an electric shuttle to the pier for me in advance. The service here surpasses many five-star hotels I've stayed at.

This hotel is the only one on Gulangyu Island that offers electric cart pick-up from the pier and can also transport your luggage back when you leave. It used to be a cadre recuperation resort, comprising several small villas in the Nanyang architectural style, and has now been converted into a hotel. The facilities are quite luxurious. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which even had a sauna – something I've never experienced in any other hotel I've stayed in. There's a back entrance to the hotel that requires key card access, allowing direct and private access to the beach, exclusively for hotel guests. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, truly going above and beyond. When we mentioned the mattress was a bit firm, they immediately arranged for someone to add a soft topper, which was a really touching gesture. The hotel's location is excellent, very close to Sunlight Rock, Shuzhuang Garden, and Longtou Road snack street, all within a few minutes' walk. I would definitely choose to stay here again with my family next time.

The room was clean and perfect for elderly guests, with a shower seat provided. The balcony was convenient for drying clothes. The hotel has a private walkway leading directly to the beach, which was less crowded and offered great views. The hotel restaurant also served delicious food.

What I loved most about this hotel was the small stool in the shower – after a long day of walking, being able to sit down and shower felt absolutely blissful. The shuttle service to the ferry terminal already puts it miles ahead of many small guesthouses and B&Bs on the island. Our butler, Xiao Chen, provided thoughtful service, enthusiastically recommending places to eat. The hotel has direct access to a beach; it's small, but there are hardly any tourists, making it quiet and perfect for watching both sunrise and sunset. The Shacha noodles at the hotel breakfast were even better than those at outside restaurants. Because it used to be a sanatorium, the rooms are spread across several buildings, so it never feels crowded or noisy, especially at night – it's very peaceful.

The Drumming Hotel has a beautiful environment, offering a peaceful retreat in a bustling area. Its location is excellent, making it convenient to visit any attraction, and it's also very close to the beach. The service is thoughtful; they provide electric car transfers to and from the boat. For the Mid-Autumn Festival, they even gifted mooncakes and pomelos, which we really appreciated! The indoor hygiene is impeccable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

For kids who love playing in the water, it's super convenient that the beach is just a one-minute walk from the back door. They can play to their heart's content and then come right back to shower off. The service was also excellent. They had welcome fruits and sand toys ready early on. The self-service laundry and dryer facilities are an absolute must-have for anyone on a long holiday trip. In the morning, there was even a cultural tour led by one of the hotel staff, taking us around Gulangyu Island. We got to hear stories about Lin Qiaozhi and the exotic architecture, avoiding the usual crowds. It offered a unique perspective for understanding this little island.

The hotel's location is excellent, right in the heart of Gulangyu Island. It's tucked away in a quiet spot but still close to Longtou Road, where all the restaurants are, and attractions like Sunlight Rock and Shuzhuang Garden. We stayed in Building 9, which was very peaceful. It hardly felt like the bustling National Day holiday, but as soon as we stepped out of the hotel, we were met with throngs of people – truly two different worlds! The hotel has a private back exit for guests that leads to a quiet beach with very few people. The kids absolutely loved it, braving the heat and strong sun for over two hours, catching several small crabs. The hotel used to be a government retreat and is now open to the public. While the facilities and decor are a bit dated, you can tell the original fixtures are still of good quality. The room even came with tea ceremony tools, and the kids had a blast playing tea master – the Dahongpao tea was delicious. The hotel service is outstanding. They offer exclusive shuttle transfers from the ferry terminal to the hotel when you arrive and depart. If you're heading straight to the ferry after sightseeing, you can arrange a time with the hotel, and they'll deliver your luggage to the terminal, allowing you to enjoy your day worry-free. The staff are also incredibly helpful; knowing the kids wanted to play on the beach, they even brought sand-digging tools. When we encountered a staff member on the road and asked for directions to the beach, he simply walked us all the way there. We genuinely loved this hotel and highly recommend it.

The hotel is an old-established sanatorium for cadres. I only found out after booking that it belongs to the same C&D Group as the Xiamen Hotel. What a coincidence, as I also booked the Xiamen Hotel for my stay in Xiamen! The hotel's location is excellent. Guests can use their room card to access the beach through the back gate for a stroll. There's also an old telegraph office nearby that you can visit for free. Our butler, Xiao Bai, was incredibly thoughtful. She reminded me in advance to buy my Gulangyu ferry tickets and, knowing the ferry would arrive at Sanqiutian pier, she kindly arranged a shuttle for us. Before I even checked in, she upgraded us to a balcony room and had already turned on the air conditioning, which was a lifesaver given how hot Xiamen has been these past few days. Xiao Bai thought of everything! She also gave us some great food recommendations, and we thoroughly enjoyed their Fujian-style set meal. The welcome fruit was a large pomelo, which the housekeeping attendant said was a gift for the Mid-Autumn Festival. This was a wonderful accommodation experience during our Gulangyu trip over the National Day holiday.

The room was very clean and the environment was quiet. Xiao Bai (the staff) was very nice and upgraded us to a higher room category. Before we left, they even gave our child some small seashells, which was a very thoughtful touch. The hotel breakfast was delicious, especially the Shacha noodles, which were tastier than any we'd had in the days before arriving on the island. The complimentary lunch included in the package was also very good, though the yellow croaker was a bit small, just one tiny fish. At the end of September, when tourist traffic wasn't heavy, we arrived on the island at 11 AM. The shuttle service was perfectly arranged, helping us avoid the scorching sun. We later found out that a shuttle ride on the island costs 50 RMB per person, so for our family of three, we saved a good 150 RMB. Most of the snacks on the island were just okay, but the Dayang Restaurant was quite good. If you have the time, staying on the island is definitely recommended. You can avoid the midday sun and take your kids to play by the beach in the afternoon. Strolling around the island in the evening makes this a very high-value-for-money place. Xiamen offers a resort experience similar to Sanya, yet also gives you the illusion of wandering through the streets and alleys of a small Hong Kong or Macau island.
