Apparently, this facility, which used to be a youth hostel, is now offering accommodation in dormitory and private rooms. It is 20km away from Awa, and there are only a local general store, a bus stop (not many buses), and an izakaya nearby. If you are staying for a long time, you will have plenty of time, so it is not a big problem, but if you are only going to sightsee or hike Yakushima for a few days, it is very inconvenient without a motorbike or car. In the past few years, fiber optic cables have been installed on Yakushima, and many people are staying there for long periods of time while working via the Internet.
