"A beautiful over 100 years old ryokan, the staff / owners were as amazing and friendly, the charm and attention to detail is lovely throughout. Key to the public onsens was great, and full details are provided for relaxing use of them. Very accommodating for English speaking. Tatami beds were comfy, room large with views of street. Very helpful and appreciated shuttle to the snow monkeys. Well made and presented food for the morning. Very cozy, in a very cosy village, would love to come again 😎"

"The hotel itself was good, with friendly staff and excellent food. However, our stay was negatively affected by a serious booking issue. We booked through Trip for 3 adults and 1 child. The booking details clearly stated that only the onsen tax was payable at the hotel with no disclosure of additional charges for a child. I also emailed the hotel prior to our stay to clarify details but received no response. At checkout, we were unexpectedly charged an additional 40% of the adult rate for our child despite not requesting or using an extra bed. The hotel informed us they were only notified of 3 adults, confirming a miscommunication and misleading information on Trip."

"I had a wonderful stay at Amagawaso in Shibu Onsen. The ryokan is run by an elderly couple who don’t speak English, but they were incredibly sweet and welcoming. With the help of Google Translate, communication was easy enough and actually added to the charm of the experience. They provided yukata and geta for exploring the town, as well as the key that gives access to the nine public onsens in Shibu — an amazing and unique experience. On top of that, the ryokan offers a free 40-minute private onsen session, which was a lovely touch. Our room was very spacious, and shortly after we arrived, the hostess came in to prepare complimentary matcha tea for us. She also gifted us steamed buns filled with red bean paste, which felt incredibly thoughtful. The location is also very convenient for visiting the Snow Monkey Park, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. Overall, the hospitality was genuine, the onsen experience was fantastic, and the atmosphere felt authentically traditional. Highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Shibu Onsen or planning a trip to see the snow monkeys."

"Great location close to all the small public baths. A bit far from the main station but still walkable or reachable by bus. The room is clean and cozy with very old Ryokan vibes. The hotel itself has a private bath and public bath with shower. Not very clean but ok. I guess depends on what time you use it. The breakfast is nice and simple, really enjoyed it. You can walk to the monkey park from here."

"The host auntie and uncle were very friendly and taken good care of our needs:) They speak excellent English and explained everything to us about using the public baths here in the onsen town. We pick the option with breakfast and dinner, although seems we have been ripped off by Trip.com, and it costs way less if we had ordered from the ryokan directly:(….a lot of people do the option without the meals as there are a good selection of rrstaurants jn the onsen town, we we hadn't known about."

"Amazing family run ryokan just few minutes drive from Snow Monkey Park. Booked a room with a private in-room onsen but it didn't make much sense as the bath was hot but there was no hot water in the shower. The room was spacious with comfortable beds and futon. Nice yukatas and socks were provided in the room. Public baths in the ryokan are great (especially outdoor area), we tried both of them. The kaiseki dinner and japanese breakfast are VERY delicious. The staff and the owner are so nice and welcoming. The free transfer to the Monkey Park is available at 9:45 am"

"This is a traditional Japanese ryokan with spacious rooms, each featuring a bathtub. In the lobby, there are yukata available for children of different sizes, for both boys and girls. There are also separate onsen baths for men and women, and a relaxation lounge. Both breakfast and dinner are served buffet-style; dinner includes Shinshu chicken hotpot, alcoholic beverages, and ice pops. The ryokan also offers karaoke, a game room, and table tennis facilities, making it ideal for family trips."

"The parking lot was large and perfect for Nagano trip. The windows in the room were large and the Alps were visible, very good landscape, and it was easy to spend. As for breakfast, I was able to make * baked in the local * and it was a delicious meal. The open-air bath was also good. I would like to stay if I go to Nagano."

"It’s the photos taken by mobile phones inside and outside the store. The small hotel run by the old couple is not far from the Yudanaka tram terminal. In the town of hot springs, it’s good to have a 24-hour hot spring bathhouse. The owner is very good. Gentle was able to personally drive us to the foot of the mountain in the Wild Monkey Park to see the monkeys washing in the hot springs. It is a lot more convenient for us. Shared toilets are the place I am least used to, but overall I am satisfied."

The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, always ready to help. The meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the onsen was relaxing and beautifully kept. It was a wonderful experience overall, and I would love to come back again."
