My son and I just came back from a 10 day stay at Oceana over Easter. The best thing about the place was the highly attentive and friendly stayed. Some of those to mention was Emna on reception who was great and the highly attentive bar and restaurant staff Ameur, Mohamed, Bashir, Mhenar, Salah, Kamal and Fatti amongst others. There was constant good service at the bar and around do the pool and the restaurant staff were so good that they set up our favourite table for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including an ice bucket with our favourite wines and soft drinks ready to go. Great omelette bar for breakfast. Tips are appreciated by the staff and I think you get a slightly better service for giving deserved tips. I personally changed up £100 for 5 dinar notes (about £1.30) for the 10 days which was more than enough for the great service provided. Weather for March/April was lovely - non-stop sun and mid 20s the whole time for our entire 10’days and pool was great. The room was OK, but I’d say it may have been in need of a bit of a refurb as isn’t as plush at the general areas like the lobby. Also, I’d advise getting a room overlooking the main pool as our room only overlooked the adult pool round the back and we didn’t get a second of sun and in March/April it’s not warm enough to sit out out on the terrace in the sun. A big positive also was that being out of season and an exclusive hotel, and during Ramadan, it was quiet which meant there was loads of room around the pool and beach, no queues at the restaurant and bars. There weren’t many children even during the Easter Hols, I think as it was a Tui Blue. I think some of the other hotels around Hammamet were busier. However, the quietness, also meant that a lot of facilities were closed. From the hotel’s point of view, I can understand this for pragmatic reasons, but when booking, Tui advertised a beach bar, poolside bar and restaurant as being open, which were shut the whole time, and a la carte options. When there was only one open for one night a week. The Tui Sahara trip is highly recommended. Two very long days, but you see amazing sites - Roman amphitheatre, a Sahara camel tour, sunrise and Jeep ride through the salt lakes, seeing the Star Wars set, an overnight stay and 4-5 meals Included for about £100 a head. Overall, a very good stay though!
