Red Lion Hotel

This was a two night stay using a Buy A Gift voucher that had been a present so no idea of room costs but I am guessing that they would be quite reasonable. Room was a fair size with a bath/shower and was very clean and comfortable. Fully cooked breakfast each morning was very nice as was the meal we had on our arrival and also good value. What impressed me the most however, was the incredible politeness of the staff for which I would like to thank them.

After a fabulous walk up Cadair Idris and not getting down until after sunset as we had already booked in to Red Lion Hotel as the plan was to walk the Brecon Beacons the following day it was a slow drive on the narrow B roads Needless we were extremely late arriving at the hotel, to late for dinner 9.10 pm, as kitchen closes around 8 pm. But what a welcome, shown personality to our room, if you get the chance ask for room 5. It’s the best double room on the second floor, enormous in size, wooden beams, comfortable bed with an large clear roof window directly above the bed. As you fall asleep you might get see a shooting star or two. Breakfast was generous and well cooked we have a full English breakfast yum. The staff are extremely friendly and a laugh in the bar too. Finally the price point is great and it’s woofer friendly. I just wished we could have stayed two nights or more. NB Remember to book room 5

We decided to eat here one evening whilst staying nearby and it was a lovely experience. The bar staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and the food was very good. We had a lasagne and a beef curry and both were very tasty and reasonably priced. The pub itself is cosy and had a roaring fire near to where we were sitting. Everyone in there was friendly and we would definitely return if we are in the area again.

Five of us ate here on 3 nights this week. The food was very good pub style meals, well cooked, generous portions, good varied menu choices, including plenty of vegetarian options. Booked a table by e-mail and received a speedy confirmation. Excellent, would not hesitate to recommend.

Stayed here on the 24/9 just for one night as dropping son to uni the next day. No prior expectations other than a comfy bed to sleep in after a 6 hour drive. The Red Lion was both warm and welcoming. Staff were incredibly friendly. Very much a local pub with a nice vibe. Checking in was a breeze, table booked for dinner for an hour or so later. Dinner menu was typical pub grub style with a good choice of food for even the fussiest of kids!! The food was lovely. Breakfast the next day was my only minor gripe and I say minor as it was probably my own misunderstanding here. But £21 for 2 x beans on toast and 1 x egg in toast seems rather high! Infact a full English would have cost the same. Wasn't particularly bothered though as the room rate was more than reasonable and the overall experience was perfect. I'll just have a full breakfast next time... And there will be a next time... Thank you all at Red Lion. 👍👍👍

Passing through the village (10 minutes! after the shop shut on Saturday afternoon) and midway around a 100 mile 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️ gravel adventure, filthy Lycra wearing cyclists were welcome in the bar. Even not getting more than a couple of cokes, water bottles were happily filled. A great friendly place.
