Yufuin Sansuikan

The hotel is a bit old style but is clean. The most amazing part is the free beverage area. There provides large variety of drinks and ice cream, also with good views and massage chairs, a good place for relaxation before and after hot spring. The dinner is okay but is a surprise that it provides large variety of wines. Overall is a good experience.

I had a spacious room with a beautiful view of Mount Yufu. Although it is an old hotel but it is well kept and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Old fashioned onsen hotel charm. The onsens are spacious and great, free massage chairs in the lobby, a play room for the kids on level 2, and all you can drink alcohol and soft drinks in the lobby until midnight. Breakfast and dinner also fantastic with a great selection of Japanese and Western style food. Can’t fault this place. It is a short walk to the train station too.

This beautiful Ryokan is over 100 years old with deep heritage. I like that it stay as it is as if time stood still. So full of character. I was drawn to the onsens featuring beautiful outdoor views. You'll get to enjoy indoor and outdoor onsens here.. You get to try different types of onsens as they switch around. The highlight was the mountain view, the tranquility that some accommodation lacks due to the amount of guests. Here, you see mostly adults, hence irs ideal for people looking for a quieter retreat. Finally I was absolutely blown away by the wagyu beef at each dinner buffet. The Oita beef was of good quality and there was crab legs and so many variety of seafood and Oita specialty. Breakfast did not disappoint. Love the Yufuin milk and the pudding. Service staff was very attentive too. Ideally for non driving travellers. A short walk to the station and kinrin river.

The hotel offered good amenities and well-maintained facilities. The service provided by the staff was excellent—friendly, helpful, and responsive. We also really enjoyed the beautiful view, which made our stay even more enjoyable.

Located a convenient 10 minute walk from Yufuin station, Sansuikan is a great option if you're looking to treat yourself for a night. There are free flow snacks and drinks (including alcohol) in the lobby, and the dinner and breakfast are all-you-can-eat buffet style, also with free flow drinks. There are two onsens, M/F on the 1st/2nd floor and they swap service twice daily. Both floors have outdoor onsen (rotenburo) but the 1st floor onsen is much larger and includes a sauna. Do note the buffet signages were in Japanese only, so you may need to approach the staff for assistance if you aren't fluent. (Their staff are fluent in English.) Overall I was quite impressed with the experience for the price point. Would come back next time 😊
