Yuzawa New Otani

We stayed here on New Year's Day 2024. We rented ski equipment from the rental shop next to the hotel, were taken to the ski resort by car, and even had our family photos taken. The gondola stopped for a while due to the earthquake, and we returned to the hotel feeling very anxious. The elevators at the hotel could not be used due to the earthquake, but a young staff member kindly carried our suitcases up to the 5th floor. Despite the situation, we were able to have delicious food, a warm bath, sleep in clean futons, and were kind to our children. We are very grateful. The hotel building is old, but the staff's service was excellent. We would like to stay at this hotel again!

I enjoyed the service in a very spacious private room, which I think used to be a karaoke room. There was a large public bath right next to it, and the room was equipped with a refrigerator and a kettle. It was so comfortable that I thought I could just sleep there.

The COVID-19 measures were in place so I was able to stay with peace of mind. The jade jacuzzi bath felt great. It helped me relieve my daily fatigue.

It was my first time using this facility. It was a weekday during the off-season, so it was relatively empty and I was able to use the large public bath to myself and relax. The facility is well-maintained and clean. The room was a Western-style room with an Airweave mattress, which was very comfortable. The food was just the right amount and delicious. The staff were polite and kind. It was good value for money and more than worth it. I will definitely return.

We stayed here as part of a tour. The room was a Japanese-style room, and the futon was folded in half and prepared. There were two washbasins, so it must be a four-person room for skiers. The two of us were able to relax comfortably. The bath was just as other reviews had said. I was a little disappointed that only one side had an open-air bath. The meals were very delicious, both breakfast and dinner. The staff were very friendly and gave good explanations. There was a wide selection of Niigata souvenirs at the shop.

When you leave the west exit of Echigo Yuzawa Station and go right along Onsen-dori for a while, you will see the New Otani and Futaba signs. Turn left there and go up the hill, and you will find it on your left. If you go by car, park in front of the entrance and the hotel staff will park for you. Most of the front desk staff are men. Perhaps because it is a major hotel chain, the front desk staff were excellent. As a measure against COVID-19, all explanations were given at the front desk. The rooms are non-smoking Japanese-style rooms. It seems that all rooms on the 5th and 6th floors are non-smoking floors. The baths are on the first floor. They are alternated between men and women, with an open-air bath on one side and a jade jacuzzi and sauna on the other. The water is colorless and odorless, so it doesn't smell like hot springs, so it doesn't bother you even if you're at work the next day. You can eat at the restaurant on the second floor. The portions are just right, so you won't be unable to finish it. Breakfast was a buffet in the same place. The exterior walls feel old, but the interior, such as the restaurant and bath, is beautiful, and I felt that the appearance was a disadvantage. Overall, it was a very cost-effective inn.

Used for skiing purposes. The day we arrived we went to Gala, and the second night we went to Yuzawa Kogen Ski Resort. From Gala, we took the Shinkansen to Echigo Yuzawa and were picked up by car. We took a bus to Yuzawa Kogen and walked back, but it was difficult for a tired child. ☆Good points: The Japanese-style room with two rooms was spacious and nice! Yukimi Onsen (female only) is also great! After checking out, you can use the hot springs for free after skiing. (Please note that there are no bath towels in the changing room. Rental required.) The rice is delicious. The amount of food was just right. They sold ski accessories, which was helpful. There was a ski rental shop attached. ☆Bad points: There is a set time for picking up and dropping off the car to the station. It would be nice if they could serve it on an ad hoc basis when there were few customers. The banquet hall can be used as a changing room, but it closes early. There is very little meat in the rice. The facilities are old and unfashionable. You can walk from the nearest ski resort, but it's a little far. After all, as a hotel that is not in front of the ski slopes, the service makes up for it.
