Golden Sun Resort - Adults Only

We really enjoyed this hotel. It was absolutely spotless and the staff work really hard to keep it that way. The rooms are nice and comfortable and cleaned daily - yes the sink is in the hallway which is weird but no big deal. The pool area is really nice and relaxing and there are plenty of sunbeds - if you want an umbrella you are best to get down there by about 8am otherwise not a problem. We went to the entertainment on Friday night which was really good fun. The only thing that was a bit hit and miss was the food, but no way near as bad as some of the comments on here say. We always found something to eat and it was always hot. The ***** of Kalamaki is a 10/15 minute walk away where you will find lots of bars and restaurants (we loved the Rose and Crown pub, lovely atmosphere and one of the few places where the wine is nice). Beach nearby is a bit disappointing as most of it is made up of private beaches for hotels but the sea is warm and we prefer the pool anyway. All in all a lovely holiday.

Just returned for the Golden Sun we had a fantastic 7 nights there our room as well as the whole hotel was spotless all the staff were always so friendly and always spoke.Our room (222) was spacious towels changed and room cleaned every day we knew we were on the flight pass so enjoyed watching them fly past.We found the food was plentyfull and hotOur only moan was not the hotel but the sun bed huggers who must of been up at sunrise.The hotel is literally on the beach and the main ***** 5mins walk away.We would return here again,i would ignore the negative views and make your own mind up

Back a week ago from Zante where we stayed at The Golden Sun Hotel. What a lovely clean place, the rooms, restaurant and pool and facilities are spotless, the gardens are very well looked after and beautiful. We were all inclusive which was great, food was ok a bit samey but to be expected. My mum is Gluten free so sometimes she found it ok some nights better than others but a decent selection. The room we had was spacious and overlooked the garden which was nice, the shower was brilliant tho we had the bathroom sink in the room outside the bathroom which was weird but we got used to it. The planes are very close to the airport so you saw them fly over head closely but it wasn't annoying. The pool is definitely not the coldest I've been in which was great but refreshing and is def needed it's very clean and I enjoyed it. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. They are one of the reasons we would go back. Nothing was ever to much. I do think they may need a few more sun loungers as they were all taken for at breakfast but the beach is a 5 min walk down the road so all good. While I was there for I noticed a wee black cat that had a wee kitten so I fed it everyday, there are a few cats about as an animal and nature lover it was the least I could do. There's plenty of nature around the area. We would def return to Kalamaki and to The Golden Sun

We have just returned from our first visit here. I wanted to share my honest review. We were very nervous about our upcoming visit due to the awful reviews people had shared during May, especially when someone said they went home after 2 days. I was hoping they were massively overreacting and I'm glad to report - they were. We arrived around 10.30 on a Saturday evening. The restaurant closes at 9.30 so we had missed our evening meal. There wasn't any food included in the room and when this was explained by the rep that people might not eat it until 3 days later then complain they were poorly from it, I can perfectly understand. There are plenty of eateries around to get food and the bar was still open to get drink at that time, so you won't go hungry or thirsty, we were just too tired and chose to go straight to bed. The room I can honestly describe as clinically clean. It is spotless, credit to the cleaning staff. Clean towels every morning. A couple of mornings we were even cleaned while out for breakfast. Food, something there for everyone. Cold salads, hot food (not Luke warm likes others state) I am a bit of a fussy eater but have easily have put on half a stone. Didn't have any complaints. Massive credit to Aggeliki her friendly happy face welcoming you to breakfast and lunch was a highlight of the day. Pool, plenty of beds, not enough umbrellas, only downfall. The hotel was busy, so a fight to get a brolly. If you are looking for a relaxing week in the sun, being fed and watered, this is certainly the place. Clean, friendly, close to amenities. We have had a lovely week. Thank you for looking after us.

A short 35 minute transfer in an air conditioned coach started the great holiday Cases taken by the staff and easy and welcoming check in then shown to our rooms Lift to all floors We were in 227 garden view lovely sea views and sunsets close to the one flight of stairs and the lift Air conditioning safe fridge iron and kettle in the room all free Shampoo gel conditioner and lotion replenished daily Take extra coat hangers if you hang stuff up there are some provided Towels and beds changed daily and room cleaned Food great variety and plentiful meat veg potatoes pasta salads fruit and gorgeous desserts a Greek and Italian night were lovely Beer wine sodas and juices all on tap help yourself in the restaurant pool bar and other bar Coffee tea and chocolate also self serve plastic glasses are used in all outdoor areas ( people did take their own bigger ones) All inclusive lists of alcohol and cocktails available …others €10 each Snacks of fries cheese and ham toasties freshly made that day baguettes Ice cream available from the pool bar ( opens at 10 ) Pool open at 9 am … we did need to put towels down early if we wanted an umbrella but there were plenty of other sunbeds and places with seats in the shade There wasn’t much nightly entertainment but a wall of shelves with games and cards and books in the indoor bar … lots of bars on the ***** doing entertainment The beach is gorgeous shallow warm water very little seaweed… nests of turtles marked and cared for by staff a 2-3 minute walk away €20 for 2 beds and an umbrella for the day

We spent a week at the golden sun recently came back , excellent weather staff was friendly and accommodating rooms were cleaned and fresh towels and bedding everyday . Just a few faults the food was the same every night very bland drinks were limited. WiFi was shocking , no entertainment having to go out and find our own every night. Very close to the beach and lovely local tavernas around. I suggest going to the panderia restaurant on Kalamaki ***** beautiful setting and lovely staff . Overall a good holiday

How anyone can write a report and 'say the worst place ever' must live on another planet. The hotel is immaculate, towels changed daily bedding changed every 2nd day. The food was pretty much like all hotel food, certainly NOT COLD, the staff are all lovely always a smile and polite, the guys in the bar are so funny. On arrival our cases were taken to our room we were also taken to room to show us how to work FREE safe. We had a garden view room which was fab we could watch the planes coming in which we enjoyed. Overall I really don't understand the negative comments and I am really fussy cleanliness and also food.

If you’re looking for a basic hotel stay, in close proximity to the beach, then this hotel is fine for that. It is about a 10 min walk to the main road as well. Pro’s: - rooms are clean - towels changed everyday and sheets made - cold beer on tap - nice pool and open long hours - good priced shop on site Con’s: - no explanation on arrival of what is available/how the snack bar works - when we first arrived and asked the barman he tried to make a joke then completely ignored our order - at points was told “wait or no” when asking for a drink at the pool bar - drinks are very basic spirits given to you to then put in your own basic mixer (no fresh juices only fizzy orange, coke, lemonade and soda) - toilet roll in the pool toilets non existent after around 10am - water cooler out the front of the bar is often warm and once empty not refilled again - if you have allergies, intolerances or are vegan/vegetarian be very aware that the food labels are not always correct. We picked up a potato dish which had no mention of meat to find that it contained pork (we told reception who apologised and took the sign away), just be very cautious. - food is very very basic all inclusive, no fresh cut fruit at breakfast, stale bread sometimes, very limited options for vegetarians but it gets you by. If we came back we’d go self catering. Ended up eating out several nights due to the limited options - green line around the edge of the jacuzzi has not been cleaned at all, not sure how long the green line has been there but this completely put us off going in there Hotel is not bad, just a few minor but easily doable things that need changing to make it a lot better. Should be able to go into a restaurant and know what you’re eating, or go into a toilet and have toilet roll to use, or ask at the bar for what the options are and actually be helped.
