We were required to come to the region during school holidays for family and non-tourist reasons. So we thought we would combine the pleasant with the useful. What a mistake! I have known this hotel for over 40 years, even during the communist era, and I did not expect such a decline. From the moment of booking, the information on the site is misleading. We see photos of the “mountain” style rooms but we do not specify that only the “luxury” rooms are in this style. The standard rooms are classic rooms from a Mercure from 20 years ago. Hordes of large families, with small children (only, probably because it's free) running around, crying and screaming. It feels like a nursery at lunchtime. The swimming pool invaded by children from morning to evening and adults drinking beer in it. No desire to venture there. The hotel welcomes animals seemingly without limits as many dogs bark in the rooms. As soon as the dinner is over, some guests organize endless drinking parties in the rooms, making it impossible to sleep a wink. The reception is also overwhelmed by the very questionable morals and behavior of the customers. The only response I got was "we're sorry but there's nothing we can do, it's a family hotel". I was offered a drink at the bar and tickets to the “relax” Spa (silent, paid area) as an apology. I was also offered to change rooms but given that there were only two nights left, I didn't want to move. Especially since we were 3 adults so we had 2 rooms. Rooms with balconies overlook the enormous outdoor thermal pool. When the weather is nice, an unbearable hubbub prevents you from resting. In short, it feels like an Accord but more like an Ibis budget than a Mercure. In the midst of covid, no customer wore a mask despite posters everywhere. The staff doesn’t even dare to intervene. With our masks, we were looked at like plague victims... The only congratulations go to the chef. The meals are very good, inventive and include local products. Probably outside of holidays, out of season, it’s different but we have no desire to repeat the experience.
