JI Hotel (Zhoushan Putuo Mountain)

On the hotel room itself, it's relatively decent but don't expect much. Hotel is located on higher grounds of the island so gotta catch the hotel's shuttle bus service bc it's too dark at night to walk up. Regarding the service - The hotel agreed to refund 1 night of fees due to poor weather condition and no one was able to enter Putuoshan Island. We have also discussed and obtained agreement from the hotel via the enquiry tickets. However, the hotel subsequently refused to refund the 1 night of fees despite multiple attempts and providing proof of the agreement. Honestly quite bummed from this entire ordeal.

Room is rather small. Breakfast is ok. Only problem is a lack of communication from staff. We left our luggage after checkout on the premise that we would collect them after visiting temples in the morning. When we came back, the luggages were missing. Turned out the staff sent the luggages to the pier. As it turned out, we had taken the shuttle from the pier to the hotel to collect our luggages. This breakdown in comms cost us a delay of one hour on a very nice, sunny autumn day which we could use to enjoy the balmy weather.

Service was good, from the helpful shuttle bus drivers to the prompt service of the technician-we had difficulty turning on the TV initially. However, we were confused about the shuttle bus stops stated by the hotel as there are designated hotel shuttle bus stops which are different from the different temples stops where only the public buses can go. The breakfast spread was not big but adequate. The hotel room was comfortable although not big. I like the Zen design. The windows were open when we entered the hotel room, hence there were two flies in the room. We turned on the electric mosquito repellent. Luckily, they did not disturb us. The attendants should not open the windows when doing room cleaning lest insects go into the room. The island has many trees so there are insects-mosquitoes, flies etc around. The room walls are thin though. I could hear the neighbouring rooms talking along the corridor and the room attendant coming by to their rescue saying he is the room attendant. The hotel is a few minutes' walk from the sea, good for an evening walk. Overall, the quality is good and the hotel room was comfortable. Definitely a hotel I could return to.
