We live locally and decided to come for lunch as not been for a couple of years. They have a new chef who has worked in London and it shows. The food was excellent. I went with my husband. We shared the mixed salad as a starter. For the mains, he had the venison and I had the duck. Both were excellent. Really, really good. The quality of the meat cuts, the sauces and the accompanying veg were all lovely. For afters, he had the pestanas with ice cream and I had the apple crumble and ice cream ( I said the chef had spent a couple of years in London!!). It was all really good. The service was excellent, led by Antonio and Rosa who were attentive, friendly and professional. Cannot fault anything. Will definitely come again.

Reception and waiting staff were very friendly and rooms are comfortable. You need a car if staying in this hotel as too far to walk to town in Summer heat. (Difficult also to get a taxi). Pool didn’t open until 12 noon which we were disappointed about and it closed early on the evening of our arrival due to a wedding. It would have been helpful to have been given notice about this when booking. Female manager was quite rude at reception which was disappointing in such a friendly hotel. Lady serving coffee etc in the bar in the morning was exceptionally friendly and a pleasure to deal with.
