Lovely log cabin style rooms very spacious and about 20 min drive from Cradle Mountain national park. Very quiet, self check in. Small kitchen with microwave kettle and toaster. No wifi or phone reception and take some food with you
The Mews Motel

Our one-night stay here didn't get off to a good start, as my partner arrived first, an hour before me. She rang the bell and phoned the given number without any response, even though the owner's wife was inside. She had to wait 15 minutes on the doorstep before being let in (accompanied by profuse apologies). Things did improve a bit from there. The place has a cluttered, quirky, old-world charm, very like some British B&Bs I've stayed in (though no breakfast on offer here). If you prefer standardised corporate suites, the Mews is not for you. Our room was comfortable if a bit cramped, with our suitcases competing for floor space. En-suite was clean but also a bit small. Wifi was good and it's a 10-15 minute walk to restaurants in Launceston's CBD.
Motel 429

This motel had been recommended to us by relatives for our first Tasmanian trip. We'd chosen a ground floor Queen room and frankly it was the only real disappointment in our trip. To call the shoebox-sized ground-floor Queen room a Queen room is laughable. It might be big enough for a couple of kids with a backpack but for two adult travellers with suitcases the small room was totally inadequate. It's the smallest motel room we have ever been in anywhere in the world. The bed is supposed to be Queen size but we doubt it and the linen was to small for the frame. At 3am every morning we had to re-make the bed as the sheets and matress topper became totally undone. We will not be staying here again and if you have motre than a backpack do not choose the ground floor rooms. The only plus was it was close to the car park.
Salamanca Inn

The location is good, not far from the port. If you check in on Saturday, turn right for two minutes and you will find the Salamanca market. There is a kitchen in the room. It is convenient to drive to the supermarket. Not new but okay, the elevator is a bit scary and it shakes when stopped. In addition, the parking lot is not large enough. If each room is driven by car, it is estimated that the parking is not enough, but it is free when parking.

The hotel environment is very clean and tidy. Although the restroom and bathroom are shared, the environment is very good. Opposite is the wow supermarket, very convenient. The restaurant on the first floor has cutlery, bread, and milk juice in the refrigerator. The hotel staff is also very friendly. In short, the experience is very good, suitable for young people to live. It is said that this hotel is 180 years old.
